how to make pics larger

hey all i sent some pics of my car to street commos mag for home brewed section and they said they wanna put it in but i need to make the pics larger... at least 1mb in size... can i make them larger or do i need a better camera and take new pics?

you can interpolate them, but generally if the pics isn't of good quality it just makes it look worse.

If you have photoshop go to

Image>Image Size> Change the second lot of figures to percent and adjust in 10% increments so 110 each time. Then change drop down box to best for enlargement. I can generally interpolate up around 160% before i start to suffer quality loss. I have to go up 120% for stock.

yeh the camera is only 5 megapixel so not the best but hopefully it will be ok... ill give it a try! thanks

A 5 megapixel camera should make a huge photo. Check to see if you can adjust the size on the camera?

If you don't have Photoshop, there is a fantastic free image viewing program with a LOT of features called IrfanView

IrfanView - Official Homepage - one of the most popular viewers worldwide

You can resize images, modify colours, scan, etc. You just can't draw images or create them from scratch. It will open almost ANY format of image, video or sound file.


And yes, your 5 megapixel camera should be able to create images up to 9mb in file size from memory.
