The oldies have gone through two dvd players and set top boxes in a year. They keep buying cheapies which die for basic reasons. And dad gets really confused with AV1/2/3/4. He's getting better though.
Anyway, just had a senior person at work say, does this docking station need to be configured or is it one of the types that you just plug in?
Roffles.
LOL, glad I'm not the only one lol.
But my parents wouldn't know how to turn the computer on even.
Lol.........but at least they can use their mobiles for the basic purpose. oh.......and my mum can read texts too.![]()

Haha, yeah, my mum's pretty much in the same boat...she'll read texts (took me a lot of convincing to get that far, believe me!), but no matter what, she will NOT send one, or let me show her how to do it.

oh.. he did recently learn how to open up firefox (after i hid IE on them) and find the bbc top gear website.. thats about as far as he got... )
Mums good though...
But thank god for vnc... I installed it on their pc 3 yrs ago before i moved towns and havnt regretted it yet... such a time saver.
my mum has her moments.... what confuses me is, when I was a kid, she had no issues with installing DOS etc... & yet now days she wont even re-install windows... WTF??
I think the grey matter just aint what it used to be....
She has no problem with mobiles thou.... except managing to get a virus on her N95 hahahaha
Dad can make calls & send me dirty MMS, so I know he is cool with mobiles, the laptop he is definetly getting better with, hardly any long distance calls these dayd to fix it
i'm just glad my folks don't have dialup anymore, at least now they don't have to turn the modem on, and then click the dialup connection shortcut, then the 'internet' shortcut.
yes i had to name IE/firefox 'internet' so they'd know which one to use.
they still manage to periodically get outlook to forget it's saved passwords, then they freak out when it prompts for one and claim it never had one, when in reality i never trusted them with one because they can't even remember which shortcut to use.
