It's not too bad. Been using it for a couple of weeks now, and I'm certainly liking it more than Vista
I like a lot of the keyboard shortcuts they've included in the OS, like win+home to minimise inactive windows, shift+click for a new application instance, win+t to instantly focus on the taskbar, and then use arrow keys to move between apps.
There's a lot more thought that's gone into Win7. And as I've noticed running the OS on a widecreen, having the taskbar on the left or right hand side of the monitor is MUCH more smoothly incorporated into the OS.
I'm quite liking it, and looking forward to a full release!

I'd try it, but i certainly wouldn't buy it....there only going to bring something else out again in a few years![]()
can i run it virtual pc style? because im ****ing lazy and dont want to need to re-install shit when i decide i dont like it....Yes i have a mac, but i can still run windows on it
how does it compare to XP?
(never bothered with Vista)
IMO Vista shit all over XP aslong as you have the hardware to run it.
Windows 7 shits on Vista.
Only downfall ive found so far is the limited driver support with a virtual DVD drive and also Java & Adobe reader will not install (windows installer error)
But only in the build version that I am currently running.
They may have fixed the bugs in this build.
if you're thinking about getting it now,, better hurry and get the key only available until Jan 24th last i heard.
Yeah, obviously vista was such a flop (was only released a little while ago) that they've had to come up with something else quick smart.
Apparently it's more like XP than Vista.
I've never tried Vista though - heard it was shit but.

Used Win 7 since 6780, very stable and it was nice that I could update from Win 7 to a newer build instead of 7... much better than Vista
It was more like this:
Microsoft needed something to fill the void between 2000 and Xp, ME was born... and a still birth at that.
Then they needed something to fill the void between Xp and 7, Vista was that solution...
When i get around to building a new computer, ill consider it, just like anything else though, first gen stuff is bad...very bad.
aZk.
Windows 7 for me so far has not yet presented me with a problem, but saying that it will now crash while trying to build our programs in Visual Studio 09..
I was able to install Adobe CS4 without a prob.
Have yet to try gaming on it as its only in a virtual machine on the work laptop at the moment.
I'll give it a crack.
Never had one problem with Vista in the 1+ years that I've owned it. But I'll get 7 and see how it holds up.
What are minimum specs to run it, I need to put something on my laptop.
Installed as a dual boot on my desktop at home, no major issues yet.
Just be careful though I don't think there is much scope to roll it back it if you have upgraded a vista install. All the docs I have read recommend wiping the install at the end of the trial.

Same specs as vista....
1.5ghz, 2gb ram, 8gb hdd, insert preferred average video card for the aero..
something like that anyway
Im up and running, geez setup takes bugger all, not even half an hour
First disappointment no msn haha, other then that its running faster then my fresh install of XP.
Im running 3.4ghz single core processor, 1gb of ram, and an old 20gb IDE drive I had sitting within arms reach haha.
Should be good to install in about 4 Hours. Lets hope this is Better then the 6801 Build. That done nothing but freeze up my computer is no end. That's why I'm back to using XP media center![]()
Well so far it has been great. Lets hope it continues to stay that way. If so Microsoft are really going to make a killer on this OS.
What did you find wrong with MSN Tom????
And yeah I love the new install times. not like sitting around for an hour waiting on XP..
There was no msn preloaded (Im an msn junkie lol), I downloaded the version for the beta, and it wont connect, everything else works fine. I ended up plugging the XP drive back on, caus it has my network/divx and msn haha, but ill be going back shortly to windows 7 and see if I can get those things working, caus my fresh XP build is a dog.
no MSN wha???
How much different is the look?
anyone got some screen shots of the differences?
I got msn working. Msn doesnt come pre-installed. Im now running Windows Live Messenger 2009, took abit to get working. BUT its freaking awesome. Im loving it, Ive set up my network on here, so once I get VNC, and my sound and Logitech devices to work, Ill be mainly on this
I think microsoft has actually achieved something.
ah lol I always uninstall windows messenger on my XP installs, then install msn or live on them,,
@LightningVP
I'll post some up later when I get home as thats where the work laptop is today having a rest from the daily life here in the office.
