Play games without a cd?

Hey people, just wondering if anyone knows how to play games without a CD, I had searched on Google and led to dead ends, but basically I have a few games that require a CD to start the game, (once game is loaded CD is no longer needed) and gets annoying when I go somewhere, feel like playing a game, to find I don't have the CD with me...

Any help is appreciated. Thank you

G'day LightningVP, there's a program I use to mount game images to a virtual drive so I don't have to burn them to CDs.

I'm not quite sure how it will work if you have the original game discs, although I would assume all you would have to do is copy the contents of the disc onto your computer, create an image and mount that image onto a virtual drive.

some games developers release nocd patches for the games, checked the official sites?
apart from that if you have a legitimate cd, you could rip it to ISO and mount it in daemontools or a similar virtual drive.
only thing is some games apparently aren't a fan of daemontools.

personally i've never had anything freak out about daemontools and i use an older version 4.00

I mainly want it to play Unreal Tournament if that also helps...

deamontools is basically a virtual cd/dvd drive which your computer detects, you can then copy the cd image as an iso(file type) to your computer and mount it with deamontools. That fools your computer into believing that you have the original game mounted when really you only have an image of the game mount and you no longer need the cd.

daemontools is software to create a virtual drive on your computer, in laymans terms it makes your computer show up as having up to 4 more cd drives than it really does.

you need to take an iso of the cd/dvd you want to use, then mount it in daemontools.

to take an iso you could use nero/infrarecorder/dvdshrink etc.

daemon, not deamon. here it what daemon tools does: it allows you to create a virtual drive on your computer, and mount an ISO (image) file. so you'll need a program to rip your game discs into ISOs. i don't do this very often, but i use a program called powerISO if i ever need to. then you simply mount the image in daemon tools, and kapow, you should be able to play your game. the only downside is that for every game you want to play you have to have the full disc stored on your computer. if these are dvd games say goodbye to ~4.7gb for every game. there is still another option though, i've only used it once but it was called a mini-loader, and basically you download the image and then you compress it using windows own compression (it compresses to like 4kb) but you can still mount it using daemon tools and the game will still run fine.

the alternative, if you own the game, you can try searching for a nocd crack. please note you must own the game to be able to use one of these . some games don't need the cd at all, it's just purely for validation purposes, which i can understand but i definitely won't put up with it so for all the games i own that require the cd i can usually find a nocd crack and play my games without having to keep swapping discs all the time.

Yeah that was one of the links I was given through PM, only a 'patch' for unreal tournament, bt will see if that helps...

ALSO, just curious, but is the GCW meant to redirect me to other sites to get the patch?

Well I managed to find a mirror that has the file...7MB though yeah atm 7BM is a lot cause we've gone over our limit...and also going to download the daemon lite....in case the patch don't work, which is also 7MB, downloading at 2.5 kbps lol
