    Default WEP/WPA Cracking

Hey guys, just wondering if there is any other WIFI security crackers out there.

    I run a HP DV2040tx with backtrack 3

    Sniffer card: DLINK DWL-G132 USB
Injector card: NETGEAR WG11V2 with ext ant (5dbi omni)

also if anyone has any questions on this topic i can do my best to help

    please note:

this practice should only be carried out on networks or access point owned by you or if you have permission to use them
the act of breaking into a network that you do not have permission to use IS illegal, so please do not post anything that is in anyway against the law.

So why do you need to crack it then?

If you own the network, use the 'factory reset' function of your wireless access point.

Unless you're trying to break into your neighbour's wireless.... but I'm sure you're not.........................

I dont think this thread will last long, reality is that only very people crack wireless for genuine reasons.
Everyone does it to say look at me I can crack wireless, or to steal someone elses internet/network.

Legitiment reasons for cracking/attempting to crack wireless? Some companies will hire IT security specialists to test there level of security and find any loop holes/glitches in there system, the same people are normally employed yo fix the problem aswell. I've heard (HEARD, no link mate) that some banks employ people just to attempt to crack there networks, no idea if its true.

On a side note I hirely doubt anyone on JC would be at this level, so therefor this thread serves very little legitament purpose.

    Hi....

I always read about it on the internet, "super leet hackers steal internetz in brisbane zOMG!" so whilst i was holidaying at my cousins place i left the laptop on collecting packets to see if it was easy - and it wasn't.
But hey, i'm a leet hacker now.

yeah i'm going to need to read some legitimate reasons for this thread remaining because nothing jumps out right now. Apart from testing security, for which details published on the net would be downright silly, i fail to see a reason it needs to be 'legally' discussed.

I know my password, i can take 5 steps into the office and reset the system... no need to hack anything.
