What Software to use, Video editing

What i want to be able to do, is basic editing of my AVCHD video's. But more importantly i want to be able to add pictures and music over top of the video clips. Then burn it all to disc for veiwing on a regular dvd player. I have tried vega's but its crap i want somthing better.
It would be nice if it was user friendly stuff and not particulary expensive, im sure someone must be using a half decent free program out there too.

Ended up getting cyberlink power director. Supports my avchd stuff and is easy to use
also got cyberlink power2go, handy little desktop tool for burning stuff too.

AVS video editor is a good choice, try it, it might be what u want.. or what anybody might want if there intrested in editing videos.. i use it
