Sup guys,
Looking at buying a new graphics card - ATI 4870.
Only problem is, I was looking at the Palit 1gb 4870 - which has a HDMI output, or the Sapphire 4870 which doesnt. I was wondering, if a DVI-HDMI adapter will produce the same video quality as the HDMI from the palit?
Can the DVI-HDMI produce sound?? I want to connect my computer to my home theater system then to the plasma via HDMI, but not sure if I will lose quality with a DVI to HDMI adapter and also If I will still have sound or just picture?
My stupid new plasma doesnt have DVI input!

If you just want to use the VGA then yes.
If the card is HDMI then it will come with an adapter in the package that converts HDMI to VGA.
Still the same quality depending on the monitor you intend to use.
If its a decent LCD then HDMI is a bit better quality as its digital.
If its a CRT monitor then VGA is the best you'll get.
My mate's 4870 uses a dvi to hdmi adaptor, think it was HIS branded. On my setup I honestly can't see the difference between vga and hdmi, playing through a sony bravia full hd.
