Heya guys, im getting a xbox 360 for my bday and im just wondering if anyone has done anything out of the ordinary with them?

In what way? Keep in mind you void the 3 year warranty if you mod them, and they have ways to block you from live if they think your using a modded console!

Be carefull if you modify it at all, without the warranty the RROD could turn into your worst nightmare.

I bought an intercooler for mine, keeps it cool. I got the RROD, got it fixed, then bought the intercooler and haven't had any dramas since.

i havnt thought of cracking it open and modding it, but programs on the xbox wouldent be to bad, and wghats the go with the media center thing?? o.0 aaaaaaaand with 360's the different tabs as you move left and right can u change background pics in each different one?? o.0

If you buy an xbox now, you should have NO worries about the RROD at all. Intercoolers also can make the overheating worse rather than better.

As far as things out of the ordinary, you can buy water cooling kits which are great for the older models which were victims of the RROD. Theres a website that sells new boxes for them, neon blue green red etc etc. Most are semi see through.

Static, all xboxs have those backgrounds, you can buy different ones and some are free.

kool, and from what i know its a brand new one from a GAME with 60 gig hard drive headset halo wars and some other shiny stuff so it shouldn't have RROD or overheating problems.

Nah the consoles that had the overheating issues were generally the ones within the first year or two of release. My xbox is used as a media center, as well as for gaming, so it can be on for up to 18 hours a day and its never been sent in for repair. As long as you dust it off and it has some ventilation area youll be fine.

Im pretty sure most xboxs that are comming off the line now are the ones with the brand new Japser chip.

The only shit thing about those deals, is they don't come with the rechargeable controllers (i have the black elite, and my controller always goes flat with the white rechargeable, but never if its in the white controller) and the shitty headset they give you. I'd rather pay more, and get the wireless one in the same colour.

be sure to keep recipets or whatever is needed for warrenty; red ring of death/faults are quite popular. About 50% of my mates who have xbox's have experienced them

Yeah, some people even had the intercoolers melt to the console because they were making things hotter.

The 360 does get pretty hot just during normal operation, but the newer consoles are much better (and quieter) than the old ones. I have an older model I'm thinking of upgrading just because it gets a bit loud sometimes.

As for modding, I modded my original Xbox, but wouldn't mod the 360, because Xbox Live is such an integral part of the console now. If you don't use it, you're missing out on half the value of the thing. You can download demos of games on Live, so the chances of buying a dud game you hate are pretty low.

My 360 RRoD'd 2 weeks ago, got it about 18 months ago so luckily still in warranty. Took care of the bloody thing and hardly used it but it still stuffed up
