VY SS UTE
i have a vy ss ute, with a mafless tune, it makes 247 at the wheels
is it worth putting a bigger throttle body on and what more power would it make?

bigger TB wont really give you more power
maybe 5kw
but does give better throttle response

Just to add to your question rather than start a new thread, What Size, Brand, Etc do people recommend when upgrading the TB????

if you want a after market one look at a 80mm
but i carnt justify the price per hp gain

When asking about a tune, I was told not to bother with a polished TB,
that the polish was more for show than flow. He recommended a billet TB.
I have a "Australian Throttle Bodies", 80 mm billet TB. :smoking:
It's bored oversize, polished, has an adjustable TPS locator, had 1/2 shaft removed,
coolant by-pass and opens to 89 degrees (adjustable).
So... In other words, all that can be done to it has been.
I cant tell what the TB alone did, because a OTR and mafless tune went with it....
but, every little bit helps... :beer chug:
But I do know that unless I want to upgrade manifold,
injectors and another TB, I cant do any more.
For Now... :driving:

One upside to a polished factory TB: it will fit...,
standard engine covers may not fit over
the new LARGER billet TB you have just bought...,
"you may need to install risers, either side covers or
:hmmm: "just" cut a hole in your cover to accommodate said new TB. :hmmm:"

But the respect that shinny TB gives is worth it

stock one is 78mm, there's a few places that make 84mm. There's a 92mm but that's best matched to a 92mm intake manifold though.

So is it really worthwhile upgrading to a bigger throttle?

Not really. The upgrade is only wothwhile if your stock TB is becoming a restriction.
I would be either going the ported standard TB or spending my money elsewhere.
Stock is 76mm, the hsv TB is 78mm.
