hey guys just a quick one. Dont know much about the ls2's whats the difference between a l76 and a l98? thx
ls2 is the hsv 6l, its got a bigger cam and crappy 5.7l heads,
L76 is the vz 6l (non hsv's) its got the DOD lifters, different heads, bigger manifold and fly by wire throttle body
l98 also came out in the very last vz's (non hsvs) and from what i rather essentially the same as l76 but with proper lifters, none of this weak DOD $hit, and larger intake valves meaning it cant take huge cams.

ok thx ymy-880 so in the way of perfomance reliabilty the l98 would be a better engine to modify due to some stronger parts? just looking at getting one in my vs rather then stroking and supercharging the 5 lt. Aiming for 300rwkw+ in the old girl. But want a good bulletproof motor.
Not really stronger, but better. The bottom ends of the L76/L98/LS2 are all pretty well the same, but the L76/L98 heads are heaps better than the LS2.
300rwkw is a walk in the park for an L76/L98.
My L76 is pulling 310rwkw with 227/234 cam and LS7 lifters, and theres still a bit more left in the tune.
