    Default lsa help

ok first of all, im getting a cam installed thinking 227-231 112lsa.. i want a really lumpy sounding cam. ive been told the lsa with determine how lumpy your idle is.. but i cant find any forum giving a straight forward answer.. ( The lower the lsa the more lumpy? or is it the higher the lsa the lumpyer?)

with that question answerd will the 227-331 112lsa be nice and lumpy?

    thanks for your help guys

The lower the LSA the choppier it will be.....

I have a 110 LSA on my 224/228. The size of the overlap will also determine the chop

if you tell your tuner i want it lumpy as f**k he can tune it like that also depends on the cam

LSA has a decent impact on the lumpyness of the note, but also changes a few things like powerband, PTV and potential power.

The lumpyness can also be tuned to an extent. Different idle mixtures and timing advance will change the note.

This is my 227/234/113 on a cold idle (~975rpm).

That's tuff as mate!! Does the same principle with the tune apply to a stock or bolt-on LS1?? For example, if I had a catback and CAI and went for a tune I could specify a lumpier idle?? Are there any downsides that you know of with this...i know mine will never sound as sweet as yours but im looking for every little bit without breaking the bank.

The same would apply to a stock or bolt-on LS1, but as for any downsides, the answer to that is outside my tuning knowledge. I'd assume that it would be a compromise, as a lumpier idle with less timing advance will also reduce manifold vacuum, which lessens the effects of vacuum assisted brakes and will probably hurt idle fuel economy aswell.

    Default ok

well its like this if you want lump you need overlap period
with overlap comes scavaging which means unburnt fuel and air in the exhaust
with EFI engines unburnt gases make it hard to tune the engine
so that is why the EFI engines generally run wide lobe seperations which means less overlap so speak to your tuner and see if he can tune something with a round 240 at 50 and 108 lobe seperation thats not too tight and should work and give you lots of lump if your tuner says "no" find one that can because it can be done
