Default Vx ss basic mods, hsv exhuast etc

Picking up my new car friday hopefully, vx ss manual, 103 000km
basically stock, bar extractors and exhaust from an vx sv300 ( was fitted with a c4B motor same as vx gts)
just wondering what these extractors are like? or should i swap them out for something else/better.
im guessing they are some what the same as vy series two tube style headers?
also whats the exhaust likely to be like?
its pretty quite, so considering going 2.5" twin system or twin 3" (just because i like the big pipes)
also very good chance the cats will be er... swapped out for something straight through....

as for the intake was either going to grab vx gts intake or a over the radiator style
and then somewhere to get an edit done? no idea where or what they cost guessing around $500- $600

if anyone could recommend a brand of exhaust that they feel works well/ sounds good that would be great or someone to tune it!

the cars only going to be a daily so no cam swaps or vortech blowers just yet..hopefully i dont go down this path just yet. aiming for something nice around 220-240rwkw.
    thanks

edit will prob set you back around the 1k mark for a full custom job.
tune and full exhaust should see you around those power figures you mentioned
Chev badges are an instant fail

Twin 2.5 inch is plenty is what i run and im making descent power.
Cheap supercat 2.5inch straigh thru mufflers sound realy good even if they are cheap, with a twin 2.5 inch aftermarket resinator box on the back, straight thru.
    Advance headers, 1 5/8 try y - Advance Headers
Ballistic cats 100cpsi can be bought cheap here - Sureflo Exhaust: Top Quality Custom Performance Exhaust Systems and LS1 Tuning
OTR CAI and maffless tune $1300ish with CAI

That with the stock cam should net you 230ish pretty easy.
Buy some good cats cause if you get caugh without them the EPA will anal rape you with huge fines.

All up that would cost you around $3200 if you do your homework.

If i was you i'd be getting a full pacemaker or di phillipo exhaust, stock headers off any hsv arnt as good, and probly look at a DUS OTR and a oztrack tune. Gutting cats is a mugs game mate.

SV300 exhaust is not too bad. An aftermarket dual 2.5" catback will be much better as it will have better high flowing mufflers and resinator and will not have factory "squish" points. The factory one will be twin 2 1/4" but due to squish points and flange reductions etc is not much better than a good quality twin 2". The extractors a 4-1 1 5/8 primary leading into a 2 1/4" flange. It's ok but not earth shattering these days for extractors. Factory HSV VYII extractors are better as they're 1 3/4 primaries and join into a long 2.5" section leading into the cats. Any aftermarket extractors will be better but will obviously cost more. You can buy a good set of eBay stainless steel extractors which are 1 3/4 primaries into 3" outlet and are a long tube 4-1 design which sound like sex. (They're basically a copy of an older Di Filippo design). These sell arounf $550 and with good Sureflow ballistic cats as mentioned above are awesome. (a combo that I have).

You can get a cheap OTR off eBay (buy a decent quality K&N filter though) and get a OZTRACK $500+ MAFLESS Tune. If you want the best OTR get a DuSpeed or GMM Ramjet but you will pay $700+?? just for the OTR.

Understand that the Long tube 4-1 extractors and high flow 100cpsi cats are what give you that awesome V8 note. Thex extractors and cats will also give you the power in the upper part of requirements (6 sp manual)

Get the tune AFTER you've done everything (obviously the OTR goes on just before the tune) and it will be the tune that ties everything together and thus getting the maximum power and torque and far better fuel economy than you have now!

As troytroy2 said, talk to Oztrack, sometimes they do a DuSpeed OTRCAI + Mafless mail order tune for $1,100 all up, including delivery to anywhere in Oz. I don't think you can beat the combo value for money. It is what I run.

Also agree get rid of factors crappy headers systems, go the long 4 into 1 extractors. either 200 or 100 CPI cats will do a street car. I went 1 3/4 extractors into 3inch collectors and 3 inch metal cats, into a twin 2.5inch cat back to help keep drone away and police of my tail.

looking for a cheap set of paccies or something too come up.
$600-$700 for headers is a pisstake

havent really priced up an exhaust yet, also think ill just try and hunt down a gts intake or something dont really want to butcher the engine bay its all nice and stock looking would like too keep it that way.
as for the cat i wasnt talking about bashing the guts out rather welding a pipe through them, so basically 2.5" pipes.

4 into 1's sound like the go.

also the factory hsv system looks quite good no press bends all nicely shaped.

very happy with it though loverly car to drive

I scored 220kw's on my LS1 with Full di-fillipo exhaust (Headers, Cats and 2.5" Catback) and a ramjet intake with tune cost me 3,300 on special with GM motorsport.
