214 rwkw from Stock SV8??? WTF

Would be interested in thoughts on the following:

I bought a 2003 VY SV8 127xxx km's manual, good nick seeming stockers from a dealer about 8 weeks ago... I am in the fortunate position of having a Dyno Dynamics 4 wheel dyno at my work (i am a 4th mechanic). I know the dyno to be well serviced and regularly calibrated, as it sees a lot a use. Put my car on the dyno a couple of weeks ago and fit made 214.8rwkw in Shootout mode. I was flipping surprised as i was expecting around 175ish... Std exhaust, std intake (maybe a MCAI i dunno didn't look too much). MAF is still installed and plugged in so could it be a MAF tune??? If so would you normally get this sort of power from a stock setup with tune???? Not that i am complaining....

Well they're rated at 247kw@fw from the factory so that sounds about right.

VY series 1 is 235kw@fw. Series 2 is 245kw@fw. Being an 03 I'll assume it is a series 1. 214rwkw (mine made 191rwkw) does sound high but I wouldn't rule it out. There have been a couple of guys on the LS1 forums who hit 200rwkw with stockers.

yeh my vy ss auto made 184.8rwkw with 180,xxx km's on the clock, was told for an auto that was about normal, they said manual would've netted around the 200 rwkw mark maybe a little over, saw a stock manual cv8 monaro make 208/209 rwkw on the same dyno. don't forget with the manual as you'd know doing an apprenticeship is that there's less loss through a manual driveline as there's less friction loss as you don't have clutch packs, torque convertor etc to go through like in an auto were you loose power and different diff ratios between manuals and auto's as well helps, that's what iv been told anyway.

I'd say its been MAF tuned, as 215-220rwkw is typical for a tuned ls1 with no mods

i got a vx ss 6speed that was stock with just cat back done made 208.9 rwkws done gears and full exhaust now car still hasnt had tune but also havnt had it tested again all motors are different!!

Cheers fellers, sort of along the lines of what i was thinking. Just looking for different point of opinion...

My SV8 with a crappy tune Mafless otr cats and 2 1/2" system made 196rwkw's on a mainline dyno afyer cam and good tune 272. Differnt dynos different No's

214 for a stocker does sound a bit high was it strapped down???

yer strapped down....fark wouldn't ever not strap a car down, bastards will come off and take someone out....especially FWD...
