    Default Ls1 otr

hey guys, lookn into OTR intakes at the moment, just not sure wat kind to get.. been told the alloy ones are just going to get hot and then just end up maken the air ya suck on hot witch wouldnt be any differant to a pod intake, but the plastic ones warp and flex.

is there a way to some how put a heat shield between the alloy OTR and the radiator? just not sure what to do at the moment. or do i just go for a growler intake?

Not true. While stationary it will heat up just like anything else but once you're moving it is stone cold. I have an alloy OTR on my SS and I've actually checked this.

I don't think what it is made of is going to make a difference to heat absorbency. If it is in a hot engine bay it is going to heat up. What do you expect?
Aluminium will dissipate that heat quicker than most other materials though. Why do you think amplifiers have aluminium heat sinks?

I'm not sure why you'd even be worried about it? Pod set ups draw hot air from a hot engine bay. OTR's draw air from out of the engine bay. I'd base the choice on which one you think looks nicer because there's nothing between them in terms of performance imo.

I'd go a DUS intake for your LS1. They flow pretty well and look nice too. Growler? Dont even waste your time. They are called SS Reductions for a reason lol

OTR CAI is the way to go - Any of them over any of the Growler/ SS Restriction or just doing the K/N filter - 2nd hole mod shite.

aluminum alloy will not just dissipate the heat quicker it will also heat up quicker so there isnt always a positive there and yes it has everything to do with the material that is used.

to the topic starter you can buy heat wrap stuff that has a sticky backing and is quite thick, im going to wrap the underside of mine in it to stop the transfer of heat from the top of the rad but mine is not the aluminum one its just the plastic one i think or maybe its fiberglass not sure it hasnt arrived yet.
