Rear main seal on ls1 .

Just wondering if any of you lads have changed a rear main on a ls1 and how bad it was to do.
I did have a read in a Max Ellery manual, it mentioned the rear cover seal and that it is usually gets replaced as well .
Any info would be appreciated.
