LS1 stuff

hi all. this'll be my first post in the LS section, so.. HI

anyone that has seen the impala thread will know that i play with idea all the time on its direction, so dont be surprised if i dont do it, but i starting thinking about LS1's

they seem to be faily equally priced to 454's so it may be a viable option. a few q's

do they share engine mounts to SBC?
so they share the same transmission pattern as SBC?
is the starter and oil filter on the same side as SBC?
has anyone seen an LS with a carby?
is there a way to ditch the coil packs?
what sort of power can you expect from them for what kind of $$$

LS1 would struggle and an LS3 aint cheap.

seen carbies on ls1 drag motors, yeh a 454 crate motor sounds like a goer, what about ls2 motor with a cam and obviously headers and custom exhaust, etc?
i'm sure they should just drop straight in, maybe some small mods, castlemain rod shop might be the people to talk to or any off the hot rod guys as some off them would've tinkered with modern v8's in hot rods and old school muscle cars, etc.
