    Default chatter

hey guys was just wondering if it was normaly to get chatter in the rear end when under heavy acceleration? (lossing traction) and also when it changes from first to second there is a big cluck (i think from the diff???) when flat footed. it has had a mafless tune so it does shift harder. but the clunking noises wernt there b4 the tune. i own a vt ss auto (gen3) BTW

    diff bounce.

Sometimes certain shock and spring combos can stop it, but doesnt work on every car. Apparently the harrop diff mount stops it too?

clunk could be flogged out bushes or diff backlash
Hit me up with some reputation points if i've helped you out! (Star in the bottom left!) Cheers!

Sounds like it could be a bush as f**ked out or it could be axle tramp
I went for the pedders diff mount over the harrop sports diff cover with mount as its 80 for the pedders and 500+ for harrop

hopefully your mechanic is gonna make it nice and tight with those 3.9's

how much would you expect to pay to supply and install 3.91 diff gears? just got a quote form my local tuner and he said $1550 plus 90 to recalibrate the speedo -_- i was looking around the 1000 mark 1100tops

I think your tuner shouldn't be charging you extra for speedo calibration if he's tweeking your diff
Ask a few tuners if they do the work inhouse or if they outsource - I asked a reputable company here in brissy and saved $100
shop around ring a few diff specialists in townsville as $1500 is a fairly high rate
also ask what work beside the gear change will they be doing eg. adding shims etc etc

few tuners in townsville - might even be worth a drive to Cairns or Mackay for a cheaper rate
