As tittle says just wondering if anyone has a 231/239 112lsa cam or around similar grinds?
looking at a grind around this area for my ls1, weekend car and maybe the odd week day here and there, no track work, although might see the odd track day every once in a while, like maybe once a year or two if that.
will be freshening up the bottom keeping standard stroke and doing the heads with probably get a 2800 stall, and 3.46 gears not long after, was going smaller cam but had a change of mind and going to freshen it up over winter and go bigger.
Just want to see if anyone has this and what they think of it or similar grinds.
was looking at the comp cams one.
thanks in advance.

I'm close what sort of lift are you looking at using? Did you end up talking to nick? With that size cam you will need a bigger stall to get the combo to work right at least a 3800 don't be afraid to go big with a lock up stall. And I still think you should go 3.9 diff. Just my 2 cents. My wife will still drive my new set up and she hates cars. And I think genreaper is around that size cam to.

Umm the lift is in the low 6's, I think 617 and 629, it's a comp one, yeh spoke to nick he was a bit busy but still helpfull, i probably wasn't the best explaining over the phone to him what i wanted and spoke to a couple of others, they all said stalls around the 2500-2800 mark for the street no need for a big stall, fly cut pistons, better valve springs and 36-42 injectors, etc.
But it will drive normal with a big stall and cast the same so why not? You will regret it if you don't. Ok another way to look at it is how fast do you want to go at the track I want 11 flat ish so that's how we decided on the cam and most tuners will have an idea as to what cam will get you there. Then the bloke at the converter shop will be able to give you an idea as to what converter you will need to get the best out of that cam. They have the experience so I used it. I just read this and I'm not trying to argue with you just share my experience that I have had so far.

Yeh that's fare enough, in the 11's would be good, should be achievable with heads cam and supporting mods, yeh iv been in cars with small stalls, but were turbo cars and a car with a 3,000 stall and decent sized cam in an ls1 that drove very well And you didn't even notice the stall which I was thought was good.
That's why I thought I'd ask and get some ideas of what people have and what seems to be good around the 230'sh range, had a 228/230 in mind or go in the 230-239 range, saw one in the weekend that was a 235/235 that sounded really nice and was making good power and daily driven. Just trying to get some ideas on these cams.

You should have enouf clearance with that cam and a ls1 as it has a smaller valve than the l76. I think about 242 is when you will need to start flycutting. If you are flycutting my tuner suggested don't stuff around and just go 244/ 248 a set of morals and the rest of what you are doing with the heads and it will fly. ( and a 4g lock up)

yeh going to get moral lifters, will get the tie bar ones (i think they call them) and piss of the lifter trays, apparently they cause an issue when putting bigger cams in with the lift, etc.
yeh a guy at works mate has a 232/240 in a vz clubby i believe it is as a daily driver, is a manual though, but he's got heads done and #62 injectors (yeh i know big injectors) and pulls over 310-320 rwkw, apparently sounds horn as and absolutely flys.
will check ptv clearance either way, thought if im going to do it may as well do it properly as will be last chance for a while and with motor half apart may as well do the lot.
Hey stupid question are ls1 and ls2 engine mounts the same item? I want to get a set of tuff mounts

Haha would love to go FI but wont be able to afford that on top and won't be able to for a number of years so going n/a, atleast with bottom end and heads done if funds are there later on can get a cam to suit and swap the cam over, but n/a for now and the near future.
