    Default Did Holden go backwards

    Hey folks
I noticed the other day my VZ LS1 does NOT have a seperate Auto trans cooler like the VT-VX models!
Why did they revert back to the through the radiator type system???

Also I have a power steering cooler instead...wierd but happy about that

When did the VT-VX models have a seperate trans cooler?

The 2 VT's I had both had the radiator transmission coolers.

I used this kit and haven't had any problems, pretty easy to fit.
AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION OIL COOLER KIT COMMODORE VY VZ | eBay
The only thing with this kit is you need a special tool to disconnect the trans line so find out if they supply it in the kit.
I got one in my kit but a few on here didn't get the tool supplied and had to purchase it separately.

Our VX has a cooler, its crap just a couple of metal lines running back and fourth across the front with no cooling fins.

I believe what you are looking at is the power steering cooler.
The auto trans if fitted with an external cooler is definitely a minature radiator looking bit of kit.

Well that would make more sense, i just looked at it and assumed its was for the transmission, without knowing what else could it be? a power steering fluid cooler definitely didnt come to mind lol. but yeh ive only (and now still only) seen external trans coolers that look like mini radiators.
