Hey,
I have a 2005 VZ Clubsport manual with a cam, heads, OTRCAI and a mafless tune.
Anyway, I've had it since last Thursday.
Last Friday when I went to work, the car started fine, maybe a little rough but I leave at 6am and it's rather cold.
But the last few days it's stalled on my first start up attempt when it's cold. So this morning when I started it after it sitting there all night it started, hunted around for idle, ended up struggling around 5000rpm and then stalling.
2nd start up it was a little rough, hunted for maybe 3 seconds then the rpm perked up to 1000rpm before settling to a good idle.
Same thing happened after work when I started the car after it was sitting there for 9 hours.
When the car is warm, it will start up fine. For example I just went out after the car having sat in the cold for 2 hours and it started fine.
Thoughts?
Also, I'm not sure if this is related or not, but I also think that the RPM are a little slow to come down when I take my foot off the throttle. For example, when drivin along at 80kmph and i take my foot off the throttle, the car almost feels like it will happily keep going at 80kmph.
Also, if I start going down a light hill with cruise control, even with cruise control off the throttle it will slowly gain speed down the hill.
What could cause this as it seems to have developed as it didn't happen to me last week.
Could this be a vacum leak somewhere?

ive had this happen to my ls3, from what ive been told its just the electronic T/B from time to time it gets abit confused and urs/mine being cammed etc its just trying to find that sweet spot to stay steady, as we all know they lag which is a good idea we all shud move back to the wire T/B
with your tunes, you can have the throttle set at real time with what the pedals doing
but is a bit touchy and takes a bit to get used to
well i havent really had a tune yet, only road tuned untill i click up the k's so im not really complaining cause it can be better... but yeh most problems can be sorted by the tuner
Thanks for the input guys.
Geez this car is being a pain in the arse...
Hope the dealer can get this sorted out for me.
So,
Just got off the phone with the original tuner and also the dealer.
First up, the tuner said that the cold start issue was something he was aware of and that the previous owner of the car was supposed to get back to him and have it sorted out along with the speedo calibration.
So i found out what tuning software he used as I figured this may be handy to know.
Second, dealer rang me up and said that they will try to book my car in to HPF next week some time.
So they should be able to sort out the tune for me.
They only pain in the arse thing being that they will need the car over night. Which is a pain considering I use the thing as my to and from work car.
my L98 powered vs had the conversion/engine work/tune done at HPF. and it has a similar cold start drama.
fires up and idles fine but idle drops to nothing after i've touched the throttle (cable T/B) it might come good once its warm but if i turn it off and restart it runs fine.
other than the cold start hissy fit i cant fault anything on it. the workmanship and tune is top notch otherwise
another thing that came in handy, turn the key untill u hear the fuel pump kick in, when it stops do it again, then crank works all the time
Ah cool.
Mine is going to a tuner next Friday so I will hopefully have the issue resolved too.
Good luck with it mate!
i hav a vx ls1 and mine does the same thing if i havent started it in a day or 2 i just thought it was the engine management looking for a good idle for my cam man
wheel gap is like a vagina the more fingers you can get in the worse it is
Built not Brought
and
Driven not Garaged
Cold start issue appears to be resolved!
Just tried the car then. It's bloody cold outside and there was no issue what so ever.
Car has been sitting there since about 11am, with me only starting it up once for about 1min about 4ish.
All smiles!
####... after leaving the car all night and trying to start it in 9degree ambient. Stalled.
So the exploring more options tomorrow with the Dealer and their Mechanic tomorrow.
They seem very keen to do everything they can to sort this out for me which is good.
