Hey guys,
getting between $5-$6k back on tax this year, after opinions on what you guys would do to a stock ls1 with that? I was looking at saving another $5k and doing everything in one hit (cam package, 3.9 diff gears, tranny cooler, high stall, exhaust (headers and cats), otr and a mafless tune). Just after opinions
Thanks
go for a used exhaust should be less than 1k than straight for a cam package with a otr then the hi stall cooler and gears should get some change from 10k

And for when you save up a bit more coin you can add an intercooler yourself, bumping yourself over the 400kw mark.

yeah go the supercharger if you can afford one a mate of mine has the harrop 1900 and goes great
want to see this thing mate, eddy is having a dyno day soon will we see it then, you going on the JC cruise sat night
You guys are dreaming if you think you can have any kind of forced induction on a stock LS1 for $5k. I don't care how much the crappy 5psi blower package alone costs, there is more required than that.
he said 5k-6k from tax return and add another 5k so minimum he is spending is around 11k but save a bit more and go the fi if you can. ask eddy and he might take you for a drive in a cam only car and a supercharged or turbo and make your decision then
Yeah I would be shocked to see a proper FI set up for anything under say 8.
MOST of the kits you see going around start around 6 and they dont even include fuel systems and tuning.
It really depends what you want out of the car
Id personally get the exhaust, OTR, Diff gears and Mafless tune done and out of the way, depending on what exhaust and OTR you get youll get away with that for about 4 and a half.
Then put aside around 3 and a half grand for a proper cam install and all the trimmings.
LS3 conversion!
or start saving up for a stroker/turbo setup!
want to see more then a typical commodore fitted with an exhuast, then check my thread out... link broken cuase i dont own a tuff car, i just made it up...
Okay anyone that want's to jump in on this thread and quote that a proper/decent supercharged setup will cost more than 5 thousand dollars needs to read the whole thread before they open there mouth!!
This is what was suggested the OP regarding a supercharger setup:
385kW Pack
Vortech 7psi Supercharger kit
4 into 1 Extractors
High Flow Cats and pipes
Cat-back 2.5" Exhaust system Mild Steel $ 8,900.00
Optional Upgrade to HPC Extractors + $ 300.00
Optional Upgrade to stainless steel exhaust system + $ 695.00
VT V6 fitted with DMS gold 40mm coilovers, Whiteline adjustable swaybars & strut brace, 330mm AP racing brakes, Rebuilt 3.45:1 LSD and a Powerdyne supercharger

piss in 2nd hand vortech for 5k
My mistake. How silly of me to assume the title of the thread would be relevant to the contents.
umm ls3 conversion is alot more then 11k guys, but keep saving if you want to... dont bother with kpm, yeh they got fantastic products etc but damn u pay for it though.. go through someone else for half the price with same parts
if you tend to keep the ls1, do it all at the same time yeh you will wait that little bit longer but will be worth it, just got for a simple cam package, exhaust, diff etc that should keep you happy for awhile
I wouldn't touch a centrifugal supercharger if you're after REAL power and torque, unless you're into 385kw @ 7700rpm.
KPM VT-VZ LS1/ LS2 Stage 1 Harrop Supercharger Kit - $10,980.00 fitted and custom tuned. Add $1000 if you DIY your own fuel system or $1500 if you pay someone.
Not entirely sure how the bottom end will enjoy it though.
What does that have to do with anything?
A decent supercharger kit was provided as an example!
Because the person that suggested it may not have a supercharger on there car means that they are starting bullshit? Explain how that works?
OP save up another five thousand and look around to see what's on the market when you have all the money, you may find something you really want.

cheers for all the input guys, Getting $5500 back on tax and will start saving up some more cash and then start looking at whats on the market in the way of forced induction vs cam etc.
Jacko will deffo be at the dyno day and will try and make the cruise this saturday.
still open to suggestions and ideas guys.
LS2's aren't really worth the money unless you at least put a decent cam in during the process. You'll get significantly more power for the same money with forced induction on the LS1.
