    Default Oil leaks

    Hi everyone,

Just fixing a few niggly things on my LS1. I cleaned this up and it appears to be leaking from here again. From looking at my Gregory's manual it appears they are just vent pipes that run across the front and to the back of the engine.

Is there anything else in this area that would leak, before I go trying to get a oring from Holden for it?

Also, down the passenger side chassis rail, its oily, any ideas what that leak is? The power steering reservoir and lines run to that area. Its a bit hard to tell if its power steering fluid or oil though.

    Thanks

The PCV pipe is very likely to crack just where youve taken that photo and melt as it goes around the back of the manifold.

Ill check the PCV pipe, I didnt even think it would be that. I thought it was more leaking from the vent pipe, underneath the PCV pipe with nit on it?
Is it the pipe that leaks or that valve in the middle?

    Thats your coolant steam pipe.

Leak would be coming from the PCV Valve. Probably cost $90 for a whole new PCV system from Holden. Also check out your intake manifold gaskets and valley cover gasket.

Ah ok thanks for that. I thought it might have been a vent pipe for the emissions or something. Rest of it on that side appears to be clean from oil and the PCV plus the short rubber hose that goes into the throttle body has oil on it and is hard, so Im guessing its leakig from there.

The hose which runs along the side of the engine appears to be still soft so its probably ok and there are no obvious cracks. I'll replace the small hose first and see. There is another really small hose behind the PCV which appears to go into the steel vent pipe too? I'll have a better look tomorrow in the daylight.

Correct. One hose and can be changed with a 10mm spanner/socket in about 5 minutes.
