Hi All, lI have been out of Commodores for a while, can someone please help me with what I am sure are some dumb arse questions. The last one I owned and still have is a 5L VR Senator, I am trying to get up to speed on the later v8's as I am starting to research an engine swap.
1. Since GM went away form the old aussie 5L, am I right that there have been three LS engines in Commodres to date, the LS1, LS2 & LS3?
2. The original non ozzie V8 I know of as the "gen 3", was this 5.7L, is this an "LS1"?
3. Is the LS2 a 6.0L, is it a different engine totally to an LS1, or just differenent internally?
4. Is the LS3 just the GM performance variant of the LS2, and is used a standard spec in cuurent HSV's, and is it 6.3L?
Thanks for any help in just getting a basic feel for what these engine are.
cheers
There's been
LS1 (VT-VZ) 5.7L
LS2 (VZ-VE?) 6L HSV
L98 (VZ-VE) 6L
L76 (VZ-VE) 6L
L77 (VE) 6L
LS3 (VE) 6.2L HSV
There's a few more like something called the C4B but I don't know anything about them
