    Default K1 Technologies cranks????

K1 Technologies 4" stroker cranks and 6.125" rods, any one used them or no some one that has and thoughts? It's for a 383 build to be used with Wiseco -3cc flat top pistons in my 2002 ls1.

Was looking at callies compstar crank and 6.125" rods with the wiseco pistons, found a setup for a good price in the states but once shipping is added it's still at a good price then add the 15% import tax (5% duty tax and 10% gst) it then becomes very expensive, have been looking here and some one mentioned K1 which iv found for same price here as in the states with out the added costs.

Been told there made in the same factory as eagle and Callies then refined to there specs in the states.
Heard they have a very good name and rep, does any one know about them?

Oh yeh it's for an N/A build (not that should make much of a difference).

    Thanks Ben.

Definatly go with the wiseco's if using a K1 crank

    Some info for ya

Carrillo had it's H beam design copied by Eagle. Since then several other companies found the Chinese plants doing the work and jumped in as well. Rather than undercutting their own U.S. made quality, Carrillo purchased K1 and it's now part of PMI (Carrillo, JE, Wiseco, Prox in the Netherlands, and Vertex of Italy).

Regardless of whether they break or not, the Chinese parts (cranks and rods) can be hit and miss when it comes to sizing, finish, thread quality, twist, bending, heat treat, etc. Any of the engine builders on this forum can attest to that whether they state that it openly or not. K1 finishes the rods here in the U.S...kind of like what Callies does with their Compstar line.

K1 was purchased By Carrillo because they can produce the rods economically and at a quality level that Carrillo deems acceptable. One of the biggest factors is Tom Molnar. He has 26 years of experience as a rod designer with knowledge of many types of engines. He's a master CNC programmer as well, willing to spend the extra time designing the parts for specific applications....a little extra cross section here, a larger radius there....no "one-size-fits-all" parts. I've spent a bit of time with him learning their process and came away very impressed. He and K1 have my stamp of approval.

Ok so K1 crank and rods are good then? And will work well with the wiseco pistons then.

been trying to get some prices on Callies products here but nit having much success, every one keeps trying to sell me Scat crank and rods. But for any motor over 500fwhp iv been told will cost $4500 for an assembly that I know I can get a hell of a lot cheaper than that are provern performers, I'm not looking for big HP
But will be bout the 450-470 rwhp mark when finished.

I don't think you can go wrong with K1, make sure its comes balanced or have someone balance the shaft
I'm still trying to make up my mind on a stroker kit 383 or bigger but will need the 6L block if going bigger aaaahhhhhhh decisions decisions!
have you checker flatlanderracing.com they have decent stroker kits going for the 2k mark

Oh ok, cool yeh will defiantly get it balanced, will have a look at them, found the kit I was after originally through Texas Speed balanced and everything ready to go, just once everything with tax is added up it's made me search here again.

Yeh I'm using my block and getting my heads worked other wise I would've looked at bigger.
