    Default Throttle body upgrade?

    Hey guys,

    I currently have a vy clubby ls1 A4 3500 stall that has heads/cam 1 7/8 Extractors twin 2.5" exhaust otr
3.7 diff yet has a standard 75mm throttle body.

What are your thoughts on upgrading, will I be wasting my money or is it a worth while Upgrade??

you may need to change the manifold as the bottle neck is the snout of the manifold look at modding your one like the TPIS LS6 Modified Intake Manifold For 90mm Throttle Body - Lingenfelter Performance

'TPIS takes the factory LS6 intake manifold to a new level! The stock intake snout is cut off, and the new 90mm inlet is affixed to the intake. The inlet is then machined to match the 90mm port.'

Thanks for the reply, thats not a bad unit they have.. I was very close to buying the LSXR with matching throttle body but looks like
lingenfelter manifold is an option that is a little cheaper so i'll be looking into it further.

Have you had any experience with the lingenfelter manifold??

i thought HSV's had a 85-90mm throttle body standard? or is that the early 5ltrs and GTS c4b motors?

good info, got me interested, a lot cheaper than fast upgrade when you send your own in and virtually same results.

    Would the ls2 intake manifold fit a ls1? i think there a 90mm intake.

Thanks for the info, its good to know there is another option available other than the fast manifold..
By the looks of things they seem to be getting good results too, i'll be defiantly looking into them further.

My throttle is defiantly 72-75mm which ever they are, i think the GTS cb4 motors came with the 90mm..

Nah I haven't had any experience with the TPIS unit I have actually bought the fast 102. lol

LS2 manifold does fit the LS1 but they are a 3 piece unit (unlike the one piece LS1/LS6) and the tend to leak through the joins and also doesn't flow as good as the LS6 regardless of the extra area of the 90mm but none the less an ok upgrade

A standard LS2 manifold is single peice, just like LS1/LS6, but the LS6 manifold still flows the best out of the 3.

    Sorry to burst your bubble

"Although the LS2 intake manifold closely resembles the LS1/LS6, it's a three-piece unit that is vibration welded together"

Ok another thing to think about is that a 90mm will flow more air than a dominator carby and think of the engines they were used on. So is there any real gain in going to a 102. I have the manifold but not the 102 tb.

Experience is a hard teacher. First you get the test, then you get the lesson.
