What would i need to do to my LS1 5.7L Statesman Caprice to get it up to or close to 300RWKW???
So far i have done the following...
Pacemaker Competition Extractors
Hi-Flow Cats
Exhaust System
OTR CAI (Looks like a cheapy system but works never the less)
SS Inductions (or reductions as some like to call it) Throttle Body Kit
3000RPM Hi-Stall
Stage II shift kit with HD bands (or some shit like that)
The engine is unopened as far as i know
A head and cam package is what you need now. Preferably a big cam something in the 23* range.
Forced induction FTW
2002 HSV GTO COUPE
VK calais ls1 turbo conversion (in the build)
2009 turbo v8 landcruiser

He just wants 300rwkw lol not 400rwkw
Am i being ridiculous in expecting around 300RWKW NA???
No your not head and cam will get you 300 with a nice otr and tune.
ported heads and a cam around 230-240 range should see you very close to 300
was getting around 24L/100 now sitting around 18L but it all comes down how ur driving it etc, only gets driven once a fortnight so it isnt always going easy![]()
lol i havent had that sort of mileage since my vx calais days which didnt last too long cause i cammed that too lol
its what you get for having power i guess, petrol is cheap well when you consider buying a bottle of coke for $3.00 its cheap![]()
First thing you need is money, worry about the rest after this.![]()
Everyone just expects 300rwkw is easy these days. Far too many fantasy dyno's around making people believe its doable with a small cam and stock heads. It isn't, not realistically. You'll need good heads, a decent size cam and a good tune. It will be much harder to get a realistic 300rwkw from a stalled auto aswell.
My suggestion, don't worry about the dyno result so much. It'll just have you believing the more dodgy workshops around that don't even bother to strap cars down for dyno runs...
So true.
Have a look around at the guys running the numbers/mph at the strip. Those mods are what you want to produce something around the 300rwkw. Higgins 241 heads are a start but aftermarket heads eg AFR, TFS, Mast etc are what you want. A cam in the 23x + range aswell.
In a Caprice, 118+mph is around the mark you'd want to be at.
I had to put an LS3 in mine, with a mid 230's duration cam, and i hit low 300's, via a large stall. Ran 117mph. Dont worry about dyno numbers. They will have you spending money hand over fist, or getting dodgey results![]()
yeh don't read too much into dyno results, look at the track.
Had mates be really disappointed at not hitting the 300-350rwkw mark in auto turbo'd cars (not ls motors) and they were spending a fortune, they were hitting the 280-290rwkw mark and i think one sold his cause it didn't net what he wanted and he'd blown a ton of cash on it.
one mate was given fudged dyno figures by one place when he got it and talked into spending a fortune, i saw the actual dyno figure before he got it and it was pulling a lot more on a lot more boost, the fudged figures were on a different boost level to the two the car was set up on when it went for a dyno run.
When i spoke to a couple of places told them what i would be happy with around but figures aren't important too me, how it drives is more important and what i want from it, needless to say i have a combo i'm building i'm looking forward to driving when complete![]()
