    Default Not enough preload?

    Hey,

I've got some subtle ticking noise going on with my engine that annoys me more than anything.

Not very noticable unless I am driving next to a building or another car.

Anyway, popped down to Chev's performance today and he thought that it might be that there is not enough preload on the lifters.

So what I would like to know is how do I increase the preload?

Is it as simple as getting some longer pushrods?

    Cheers in advance.

possibly unrelated but i had the same issue once upon a time. Turns out that i didn't have enough oil in my engine. Just a thought, but you never know.

I have always heard this noise but thought it is normal with cam'd cars.

I'm fitting Roller Rocker's to see if it will quieten it down more

I've done a lot of research into LSX cams lately and for most cams due to the slightly smaller base circle (used to achieve larger lift) you need slightly longer pushrods to do the job properly. Do you have them fitted?

Nah... I know that the pushrods and lifters were not done when the Cam and Heads were done.

A bit stupid if you ask me since lifters are a head off affair so you would think logically they should be done at the same time any head work is.

So I'm just doing some investigation on what I can get done next service. I'm thinking of getting spushrods to match the cam put in which should quieten things down a touch.
