Hi all,
Just wanted to know if anyone has had experience with the Thumpr range of cams from Comp Cams?
From the info that i can find on the net they have a trade off between the sound and power, thats not to say they loose performance they just don't give you as much as other cams. I just can't find any facts or figures as to what the power differences are.
I'm more interested in the sound than performance as i don't want to push the motor to hard as it has a healthy 200,000kms on it but I also don't want to be paying good money for something if it is ONLY going to give me the sound.
Cam specs can be found here
COMP Cams: Thumpr™
Can anyone shed some light on the topic?
All I can say is do your research as you can make an standard/aftermarket cam lumpier/less lumpier by changing the LSA
The reason why the thumprs don't make as much power is due to the design of the thumpr cam lobes ie: more lift=more air=more power but in saying that it doesn't seem they would be too harsh on valve train unlike the XER and LSK lobes. The tuner can make it lumpier on idle too.
I would also seek professional advice regarding cam upgrade due to the amount of km's on the car
