Looking at putting a cam and stall into my vz ss, I already have otr with mafless tune and full exhaust but I'm looking at going with something like 224/224 114 cam with a 2800rpm stall, should that be alright in my car?
Small cams are for pussies.
Go big or go home.
Hmm i cant think of any more atm, but you get my drift.
how big can i go with that size stall?
5.7 or 6L?
Sometimes there's no point in going bigger as it's not always better. I cracked 325rwkw with a 218/233 cam.
248/254 @ 110
5k stally
I'm told with this setup You should be able to crack 300 rwkw

if its a 6l most likely, ls1, no.
if you tell your tuner you want 300rwkw he will give you a dyno sheet that says you got 300rwkw.
dyno's can easily be fudged, take it too the strip if you wanna know its capabilities
go for a minimun 3k stall or 3500 and go for atleast a mid 23*'size cam
ive got a 231/236 if i ever do a cam again it will be atleast mid 240's
you have to watch valves hitting the pistons in ls1's with massive cams and unless your doing heads aswell then no point in going huge. the ports in the stock ls1 heads cant flow much more than a 238/240 cam. a proven cam is 232/234 and a 3k stally. that is probably the most common of cams.
Thanks for all the replies guys, I got that cam (vcm) and stall (TCE) for just over $700 so I can't complain, I've got a patriot gold dual valve spring kit on the way too, I'll throw it all in and see how I go, I don't want anything to crazy as its my everyday car too
