500rwkws isnt totally rediculious. its gonna cost you a shit load but. ull need to stroke the ls2 and chuck on a twin turbo. even then u might not get there.

Haha, so its a bit too crazy for the average joe?!!

I was looking on google last night, and saw one guy had spent $170,000 building his car, pretty sure it was 500rwkw, and I was just like pffft, maybe 300, or 350rwkw.. haha

Does anyone know a 'realistic' figure, to get from a twin turbo set up on one??

Im pretty sure theres one on the Marrano's website and it was only getting 340 - something rwkw, with a conservative tune.. I always thought that you could get easy 300rwkw out of a N/A LS2, like the GTS's??? so was hoping for a bit more of an increase with F/I.. unless that tune is really conservative.. lol..

On an unopened LS2 with aftermarket exhaust and headers, LS1Turbo.com.au claims that from their GenTT kit you'll get ~390rwKw right up to around 420kW if you wind the boost up a bit, from their GenTT ball-bearing kit they claim up to 500Kw.

To push the boost up that high though I'd imagine you'd need valve springs at least to handle it, I'm not sure about the structural integrity of the LS2 though so there may be more necessary. I'd imagine if you had the GenTT BB kit installed on a properly cammed, strengthened and tuned engine, low-comp pistons maybe, a suitable exhaust etc and you wound the boost as high as you could reliably go, you'd easily break 500rwKw and push it up toward 600 or even past there. Of course, this is assuming their original claims are accurate

All this would set you back tens of thousands of dollars minimum though, so a bit pricey. Say ~$2000 for a properly matched exhaust, $10,000+ for GenTT BB kit, however many thousands for cam and all the internals, plus a tune, then add onto that a transmission that can handle it... I suppose when you add it all up though, people spend a lot more to make the same power on other cars. Depends where you want your money to go

    Hey Stressball,
Been meaning to reply to this a bit earlier..

Cheers for that, it's good to know that it's not totally out of reach - if like you say, their figures are realistic. The GenTT kit is looking pretty nice right about now, haha. Is the Gen TT BB kit just for the turbo kit, (or complete motor) haha, my guess just the kit.. A touch out of my price range I think!!

With the little bit more research and advice I now have from you guys on here, and a top shelf sponser we are lucky enough to have, I'm pretty sure it would be a wise investment to go with the forged pistons/rods, with a complete bottom end rebuild, just to make sure it will hold up to the extra boost - like I could probly get away with it, but who knows one day when I'm fully up it, something could let go, with this sort of money involved its best to make it right, from the start.

At this point in time, with my current financial responsibilities, I'm looking at around 15 big ones for the motor, may need a tad more, a few more for gearbox/clutch and other assorted bits i'll need. With plans of it going into a VH commy I have - got the rolling shell with a nine inch diff, V8 brakes - although will most likely looking into some bigger brakes if this route goes ahead..
Although would probly get it all sorted before I go looking for a crossmember for it, just incase I decide to throw it in a HQ, which I think could also be a nice project, my sister has a 1 tonner just sitting there waiting for her to get some cash together.. but I might confiscate it!!
Or the last option - a big conversion on the daily V6 VY, but this project is the most unlikley at the moment, I have a real soft spot for the older holdens.

i dont agree with the choice of clutch but plenty of people like them i think the ceramic NPC clutch which is good for around 550 hp is better option or a mal woods clutch which i had in my ute when i bought it..

What would you guys do after that, say heads, manifold throttle body? Or something different

hey guys just after some cam info. i have a vx ss with ss growler, 4-1 pacies, 2.5' hi flow cats and 2.5' twin xforce. loving the sound and power gains atm.
i am looking at some cams but dont know where to look and what sizes. im after a somewhat small cam for more bottom to midrange power.
can anyone help me out please?

i dont want to attract too much attention so a nice quietish idle would be great too.

would be a waste of time - the motor is already choked to the crapper.
