Default So what's a mail order tune??

    Please explain!

Im in the process of gathering info for mods to my VY SS. Thanks to this forum, I've worked out that I wanna do the 2-hole mod, an exhaust and then probably a MAF tune. However, I've heard something about mail order tunes being around the $300-$400 mark. What are they? Any good?

Also, can you guys reccomend a good tuner in Sydney? Thanks in advance guys...

Yep.. I'm not sure about Sydney but I'd imagine it would be the same as Melbourne in that every man and his dog tunes LS1's.. Heaps of performance shops around.

Get an SC magazine and have a flick through it..

    Kool, thanx guys.

But just out of interest, what exactly is a mail order tune? Do they just send you some software or something??

A mail order tune is normally a changeover PCM posted to you, it will have been reflashed with a modified calibration to suit your car to the information you supply to the supplier, when you have fitted it you post the original PCM back.
prices range from $300 to $500 depending on where you go

get it done, I have it and it has made such a difference, best $400 I ever spent.... It'll feel like a whole new car...

I guess a proper tune would be better but for $400 bucks its the next best thing...

So many different opinions! I'll have to think about it, but I think I may wait a while and get a proper tune...

That would be the best choice to make, most mail order changeover pcm's only run at about a 75% tune. Can make a big difference.

it will Never be 100%... it cant be.. its as safe as possible while gettign as much Hp as you can.. No LS1 engine is the same.. so you cant just make one tune and sell it to everyone, you ahve to change it for every car thats what a custom tune is..
