the HSV short shifter is good and feels very positive when changing gears but it isnt as stiff to move as the ripshifter is

ive driven the same car with both shifters installed one after the other to feel the difference

the rip shifter in my opinion is good, but hard to get used to

the HSV short shifter feels nice and positive without the hard-to-useness...

I have the billet products one & while it is firmer to shift, it is a lot more positive. The ripshift street I have driven was just as sloppy as the standard shifter with a shorter throw.

Mine has the Tremec one. Havn't driven with the others so i can't really compare. No problems with mine.

Can let you have a thrash on a cruise if you want (might not be the performance your used to tho haha)

What type did you get? The billet products shifter has an adjustable stop to prevent shifter fork damage.
As for fitting, they are a pain to do in the car but only takes an hour or so. You will need to lower the tranny crossmember to get at the front two bolts so a pit or hoist will make the job much easier.

I was told by Mal Wood if i put a rip shifter in the warranty would be void, for the same reason.

Theres a how to in a recent SC mag (recent like, not 5 years ago....), one of the extra mags you get with the normal mag (tech tips???)

    yeah what he said

i like my hsv short shift, the only thing i hate is the 2-3 shift, occasionally its a bitch to change when going quick. i wouldn't change it unless i had a drive of a ripshifted car for awhile and tried it out.

got my shorter shifter and fitted it, i would recommend it just for looks, feels a little more positive changing gears. next on the wish list a rip shift, but this will keep me happy for a while.

my gear stick rattles a little bit more than before but i'll look into that later. anyone know how to fix it or make it lesser?

I had a short shifter fitted from factory and after having the rip shift in for over a year now i love it, sure it was a little strange to get use to at first but after a little while you will forget its even there, just like the z grip clutch i almost think the shudder is factory lol.. both killa mods and i recomend both.
    Cheers steve.
