Hi Guys,
Not familiar with stroking car engines at all. My understanding of it is pretty limited but have a rough idea. Just a few questions.
What would it cost too stroke an LS1?
What sort of power are you looking at?
Is it better than camming?
Pros/Cons?
Thanks.

depends how big u go. was speaking to a bloke that got a 383 built and it cost him 10 grand. I think he pulled around 320rwkw. If u build a stoker ur most likley going to use a pretty big cam so its going to drink it. the stroker i was in was very grumpy but sounded awesome.
I guess the pros would be that it sound awesome and it would have plent of low down power. but it would use tons of petrol. i wouldnt have a 383 in a daily to be honest. a nice small cam would do the job but if u wanna go a bit further u could do a twin turbo setup or a supercharger or a crate engine.
I do and don't agree with John.
A stroker would be good for the street, more low down torque increases your driveability. Cam doesn't have to be massive to be effective, a 383 in front of a T56 would be killer, both around town and on the highway. But as john said, it has potential to use the juice, but that depends on your right foot more than anything.
Theres a big difference between throwing a cam package at an engine and then stroking a engine.
Stroking the engine involes changing the entire bottom end assembly for aftermarket parts. the results should be increased capacity, stronger and balanced rotating assembly, can custom piston to rod ratio, change comp ratio etc. So there is a lot more to this than say a simple cam change.
It changes the whole engines behaviour.
Cam change and tune is about $3000
Stroker package and tune (depending on what you want) is $10k-$15k
Is it better than camming a car? depends on what your trying to achieve.
Research has shown that men usually sleep on the right side of the bed.
Even in our sleep we happen to be right.
