I use the 10/30 magnatec and engines still quiet at 170,000kms+ and no issues whatsoever.

Edge Sport 10w60 here, car gets driven hard (weekender) and dosent miss a beat

What grade Magnatec are you using? The 10w-40 is only a semi-syn, well 5w-30 is too but because it's only a grade 3 synthetic where as edge sport is a grade 4
