    Default no rear muffler

Just wondering what a gen3 with twin 2.5 catback exhaust without rear muffler would sound like?

    Cheers

Manual will sound good, very crackly. Auto will drone under light acceleration.

Ok well it’s a caprice so its auto, I guess I will see how it sounds first then I might get a hotdog or muffler what do you think would be better? If drone’s the issue im guessing the hotdog right?

    Cheers

Don't do it. It sounds like crap, all pop and fart with no tone. If you want it louder save the cash and fit a proper catback.

iv heard simmilar from exhaust places and holden techs iv asked about cutting the muffler out, said the same don't do it, was told like not_an_abba_fan said cut the center ones out if any or get a proper 2.5" or 3" cat back system, i'm saving some money for a 3" cat back system for my vyss, probably pacemaker from the headers 4into1 to 3" hi-flow cats and 3" cat back system, been told they do a good system and will sound tough, planning on camming it and possible charger some time late 09-early 2010, other wise probably just a 2.5" if i wasn't planning that, good luck with it.

I guess I will just get it fitted and see how it sounds first and take it from there. The whole system is 4 into 1 stainless steal headers with high flow cats and obviously the 2.5 inch twin supercat catback.

I’m starting to think I am going to really like how it sounds with the cracking. Just hope it won’t sound to load. What headers and cats u have DVSV8?

No resi with a manual sounds pretty good! Extractors make them sound a fair bit better too.. For those who are wondering about the popping/crackling on deceleration, it can be lessened in the tune..

By front ones do you mean the main mufflers? as that will sound way to loud and also sound like sh1t, best comprimise is the cat back with no resi.
Have one on my car (manual) and one on the wifes car (auto) both sound the goods, auto you just have to change throttle position sometimes (if) you dont like the sound of it, but it dont bother me.
Heres a short clip of my car with 2.5"cat back and no resi might give ya an idea.

Edit: heres a short clip of the wifes auto (dont forget they both sound different under load) just to give ya a different view both cat backs no resi.

feather the accelerator,(just small taps but not enought to make the car go faster) when slowing down and you should head some deep crackles and very loud backfires.

I think a decent muffler also helps Im running s/steel magnaflow mufflers on both cars they may cost a little more but like everything you get what you pay for.
If your system is bolt together then it shouldnt cost to much for an exhaust place to do what your after, just keep ya resi incase you want to put it back for any reason, Steve.
