Hello people,
I'm just asking a theoretical question here.
IF I wanted to take the LS1 out of my VY SS II, and fit an LS2 from a VZ SS what would also have to change?

Is it as simple as purchasing an LS2 long motor, fitting it and turning the key. Or do I have to contend with a miriad of electrical issues?

Mechanical things I can work with, and obviously the LS2 will physically fit. But if there's too much in the way of electricall modifications, I seriously could not be bothered.

I dont think there is too much to do mate but then again Im not 100% sure, think you have to have the right reluture wheel on the crank but not sure about the rest of it. If that helps at all? Sorry I cant be of more help.

Early LS2's will fit easily enough, late LS2's require a bit more effort. Not as simple as fit and tune.

we've just had an LS3 fitted, same principle. Bank on 6grand for a workshop to do the converion (Not including engine)

Parts needed:
90mm Holley TB
24x Reluctor wheel
24x LS2 cam gear
3 Bolt LS1 Style Cam
Adaptor looms: Map, knock, Injector
LS1 Style Sump
LS1 knock sensors, drilled and tapped into new block.

Dont forget all the fluid eg oil, coolant etc

Also need all the front Accessories from LS1 onto the new engine.

Forget about the 24x module converter box, they are crap and dont work properly.

lol.
Im thinking of just buying a complete LS2 (or L98?).
So provided everything is there, all I need to do is change those few things mentioned?

L98 is better, but those few things mentioned add up to $3500 approx .. ohh and add valve springs to that above.

What's the point? For the money it would cost, you could have an LS1 much better than a stock LS2

You would have to change the Cam to a 3 bolt LS1style cam because the L98 has a 1 bolt cam and no one does a 24x cam wheel for a one bolt camshaft.

Not exactly a stock motor when a cammed L98 gets around 320rwkw aye...

Valve springs are needed to compliment the Camshaft.
