"hay i was just wondering if u could tell me a lil more about these i am totally new to these"
Not a worry happy to help
"do i need a tune at all"
A tune with this in conjunction with this memcal or a tune in general?
The memcal (re calibrated) is basically a "tune" in the modern sense as it controls things like fuel ignition timing etc. Which is turn can provide you with more power and better fuel economy depending on how it's been calibrated.
"and how hard are these to install my self"
They are easy to install and the installation procedure is very similar to that shown in the link below
Installing your new memcal in your VN - VS Commodore (V6 & V8)
If you have any more questions please don't hesitate to ask.
Kindest Regards,
Steve
ok so what i take from what u have told me and please correct me if i am worng the memcal is a tune in itself so i dont need to get it tuned to my car its a straight install (so to speak)
so these are just a basic tune like holden brought out but upgraded as in the tune is just a Mace standard performance VT tune not spific to anyone VT
can u run more boost on these if needed?
what about running a intercooler down the track will that be a prob for the memcal?
also on ur website theres no VX ones only vs vt and vy

hey MACE, any idea how these match up to the greenfoam or dr bob memcals?
anyone else compared the memcals?
Are any transmission parameters changed in the tunes? Or just the engine...
if these tunes give more power and better fuel efficency on a dead stock car, how come they dont come stock with the car, i mean holden ovbiously must have the technology and knoweldge?
cause holden worrries about warrenty claims etc and after years of wear and tear a touch up tune can do wonders for an old tired engine
I tune the oldschool way fear on the passengers face and knuckle colour cant go wrong
tabbacco is still my favorite vegetable
The later Factory VT tunes were alot more potent then the early VT ones so there's a fair bit to gain even on factory tunes. The series 2 tho, that was starting to push the ecotec. The never really gained after that untill they started putting twin cat exhausts on them in the VY's. You can only whip a dead horse so muchbut there's a little bit in them mostly if you have a series 1 VT
greenfoam i started a topic in the tuning forum that id like you to look at. i have a vt s1 v6. could you please check it out and let me know what you think. its called "looking for vt tune"
Got mine in 4 days! That's got to be a record for Express Post to here. Now it's just a case of waiting for my ticket home. Can't wait. Mate has one in a VN and he said it's just crazy now.
Got to be happy with that
Also wanted to mention as I'm sure many people will agree, that it's best to consider purchasing a memcal, if your car is in good working order.
For arguments sake, if you purchase a memcal and your o2 sensors are shot then your fuel economy won't be all that great under cruise conditions.
Or if you have a real bad belt tension that making a heap of noise, triggering of the knock sensors, the a performance memcal will do very little.
The list goes on and on and on
I guess this is applicable to all mods however I think that there's a greater perception that a memcal is "guaranteed" to perform, even if they didn't tell the tuner about that gutted out MAF etc...

hope to have mine soon to try out on the SC 6
can the memcal tunes be changed to suit a VT that has been modifyed? eg exhaust, roller rockers, manifold spaces, bored throttle body ect...
yeah im happy with mine so far better on the juice and feels smoother throught the rev range with more pwr to so im happy
should you be putting premium petrol in your car after sticking one of these in?
would it still run on 91? it said to expect a gain of 8-12KW on regular, plus a bit more on premium
