Default [vr v6] mace memcal problems

hey everyone, just got my mace memcal the other day.
after installing the engine light stays on, it has a lot of trouble starting but will eventaully, and drive barely works at all.

whats the deal, have I done something wrong? or do I have a dodgy chip (came directly from mace)

Try calling MACE, Steve is a very helpful bloke.

just had another go at it, memcal was definitely in correctly. (both clips clicked in), and the negative battery terminal was unplugged. that didnt work, so I tried unplugging the ecu wiring looms and leaving it sit for 15-20 minutes, still with the same result.

have I been screwed with a dodgy chip?

open up blue cover and check soldering. if there is any pins without a good solder joins whats happening to you is the first sign. the other thing it could be is a bit of solder crossing two pins

Im putting my issues down to dodgy fuel, assuming that 98 is the recommended fuel for these mace memcals. lacking power a lil an after a near full throttle push engine light comes on so im guessing it detects a knock from bad detonation an check engine comes on as safe mode

I doubt mace are soldering eproms in, they might have just had a problem with a bad burn or run of them. Best to contact them directly with questions tho. I know it shits me up the wall when people post of threads blaming me for such things with 99% of the time it was another problem

yeah I was gonna say.. for $150 I would hope it's new. I wasnt blaming them just asking and I have every reason to considering how expensive it was.

I would say in your case it's a problem with the memcal since that's all you have changed and the engine light is on. I don't know who made it but I know once in a while you can easily make a dud one. But just email them direct and they will fix it up, it's the more correct way to go about these things I rekcon

    nathanwright,

My appologies for the product difficulty. We genuinely did our best to make sure that you received the product the next day even turning a blind eye to the paypal payment which hadn't cleared yet.

As other have stated things like this can happen on the odd occasion.

Irrespective of product or company no one is impervious to faults.

As usual we're more then happy to help customers out if they call or email to let us know of their problems as we're not mind readers

We'll organise to send you out another one ASAP.

    Cheers
    Steve
