Hi Guys,
Can you please explain what a Mace Manifold Insulator is and how it works?
I have looked over previous threads but the links have expired.
It's a piece of material which you bolt between your intake plenum and runners. It's got the dual role of reducing heat transfer between the engine and plenum, which notionally means the air getting into your engine is slightly cooler and therefore more dense, and slightly increases the length of your intake runners, which again has a notional effect on low-rpm torque.
That's the theory anyway, having never tried them I can't vouch for the veracity of these claims.

I'm also guessing it would have a fair effect on warranty on the engine? haha
I have them in my 09 Commodore international, Made a noticeable difference. Not sure about the warranty i would like to know this as well?.
You're best off asking your servicing dealer (in writing if possible) what affect they will have on your warranty. Generally, warranty contracts will have a clause to the effect of "if you modify something, and that causes or contributes to something failing, your warranty won't cover it" - check the booklet they gave you with the car.
Because you're modifying the engine, one could attempt to blame that modification for many types of mechanical engine, gearbox, differential failure (anything powertrain related really), even if in reality it wasn't a significant factor. I would imagine it would come down to who was dealing with your claim, and how hard you'd be willing to push it.

Mace is the company that sells them. ^These guys
Probably one of the best bang-for-buck ecotec mods available. They do an exceptional job of keeping the plenum cool, Today I got home from a 300km drive, and the plenum was slightly warm to the touch - compared to near melting the skin off my hand prior to the installation of the insulators.
Had a mate who ran a 16.4 with full aftermarket exhaust and a K&N panel filter. Installed the insulators and throttle body. Ran 15.8 with just those mods.

Hey Steve, which would be better, running on LPG.
25mm Manifold insulator with 12mm Plenum spacer, or vice versa? or both 25mm or both 12mm?
Looking for maximum power/torque
Sounds good, what's the best combo for a series 1 ecotec?
12mm + 25mm + 70mm throttlebody?
nathans VY Calais - 'Calais 2.0' | VT Equipe | VS Calais **SOLD!**
You have a PM
If you're not running boost then the 12mm plenum spacer and the 25mm manifold insulator would be ideal. If you're running boost then it would be the other way around.
What you've mentioned without running boost.
Cheers
