Hey guys my VX has started rattling i have to thoughts its my pullies or my exhaust but b4 i go crazy about finding the problem cant anyone help me out if this has happened to u and it seems to rattle while driving and at lights while stopped ect. Any information would be great thanks.
Where can you hear the rattle? Front or back?
When it rattles put the car in neutral and see if it goes away - Possibly idler pulley.
Try to find it, stick your head in the engine bay, under the car, where ever you hear it.
it lessers while in neutral just a tinny noise wen im driving i think i can hear it from the back but on basic start up the front does it as well
hi,
There can be many reasons for a rattle. Considering you say that it's worst at first start up the first thing I'm going to ask is when was the last time the oil and filter where changed and what type/grade of oil was used. Then if it hasn't been done recently I would highly recommend doing so using a 20w-50 grade oil minimum with a new filter, you can also use a oil flush when doing the oil change (follow directions on the bottle). IF the rattle is still there (and it possibly will be) I would recommend adding bottle of Nulon "lifter free". This stuff acts like a oil flush except you leave it in. It can take a few 100km's of driving if the problem is sticky lifters.

its been sitting there for a month or 2 without start up due to no fuel and me losing my licence oil is full oil filter was fitting just over 3 months ago so i dont think the need changing and i use the 20-50w oil now wont use anything else i might take it to a mechanic to get it over and done with would be easier to find a problem on the hoist. Ill keep guessing and if i cant think of anything then ill do an oil change and the other things u mentiond thanks for ur help. I have a huntch its me twin exhaust maybe a mount is loose some where.
Andrew,
Try temporarily running it without the engine belt to see if the noise goes away
