Do it properly or don't do it at all.

Looks to me like something similar to the old power chip that was just a resistor.
The only way to fit a shift kit is to actually fit a shift kit, not a switch.
^^ 100% agree.

Isn't that the one that changes line pressure to give the feeling of faster shifts?.
Best bet if going cheap as possible go the servo kit.

Na there not that dodge, there just basically a "hard wired alteration" to the tune that tells the ecu to bump up the gear box line pressure. Just same as the ls1 boys boys do via vcm, kalmaker etc etc. I had this done in my tune (not this item but same software changes) it does help but I still ended up going billet servos and shift kit.

I'll go against the grain here and say that I'm a fan of these
The main reason is that you can easily shift between trans shift settings (shift firmness) at the flick of a switch. This comes in handy say if you're driving the car in the wet and you don't want it to kick out etc.
If you're planning on getting a custom tune then it's not all that relevant as this can be controlled via the power button

ahhh ok thanks guys well ill be getting a tune from MACE either them or maybe get it tuned wen im doing the dynos and wraith this Holden Commodore VN/VX Hi Stall Torque Converter | eBay
Also another question Steve is it wasting my money if i buy ur chip but then have it tuned by a dyno shop in rocky or would both be better thanks.
You don't need that converter on a stock motor. Get the box properly shift kitted first.

how much would that be all up
I got quoted about $500. Ring up your local transmission place and ask.

wow that is like 50 dollars dearer then the high stall torque converter well ill go that i wanna get a cam first

yeah fair enough thanks dude
I have a box setup atm.. its a 4L60E Rebult stronger, 3000 stall, full manual, corvet servo's etc.. bam there goes 4g done buy a profesinal.. dont bother with a factory 4L60E its gong to blow if you dont give it a hand....
But your going to wack a cam in and leave rest of the motor standard?.. hmm seems errr stupid to me?
Hate to disagree with you Steve but regardless of how hard your transmission changes gears its still all up to the driver and his right foot....
it can also have issues with the torque reduction programmed into the ECU which means the higher you rev the less hard it will change
I'm all for healthy disagreementsMonotonous arguments with the misses on the other hand is a big NO LOL
I know it's a dirty way of controlling the force motor in the trans, but it does work with no torque reductions, only firmer shifts (VY V6's and earlier)
Bare in mind I'm not taking about more sophisticated OBDII computers as found in LS1's and Alloytecs. I'm sure the computer would be more inclined to throw an error code or pick up the increase in instantaneous torque from auto and make changes accordingly bringing it back to factory spec. I can't definitively say this is the case though.

$4000 on modding an auto gearbox, when you don't even know if your putting a modified V6 or an LS1 into it, is a bit of a errr stupid move in my opinion!
How much power are you expecting to get from your possibly modified V6 or LS1?
P.s. A V6 Ecotec with every possible mod done will #### up a LS1 crate motor easily, depending on how far you go with it!!

I had one of those electronic *ahem* shift kits, and let me say, it was crap. Car slammed into gear when moving around the driveway, and did sweet-fa when at high revs, completely the opposite of what you want.
Seriously when changing from reverse to drive, out of my driveway, the whole car would jerk forward, the shift was that hard.
I understand that you would really only use it when your going to have some fun, but like I said at higher revs the auto shifts almost the same as before. But I think this is due to the ECU scaling back.

The reason it feels no different at high rpm and slams into gear is because all that thing does is trick the ecu to shift at max pressure. At high rpm it shifts at max pressure anyway.

thanks acarmody wont be getting it lol next mods to come are tune, rockers or cam (being a p plate dont think u can drive it with a lumpy cam cause it an engine mod correct???) and throttle body.
So far ive got Pacemakers, twin Xforce 2.5 inch exhaust, 2 twin aftermarket high flow cats, 25mm manifold insulator, 12 mm spacer and CAI. Haven't put the last 3 items on yet as i wanna get a dyno b4 and after for MACE and for all use, so you have a fair indication of how much your getting out of it.
By the way my birthday today and im still drunk haha
