Default VE SIDI 3.0l 20% underdrive pullley.

HEy guys just had my underdrive harmonic balance installed on my 3.0l sidi...

out come is that torque has picked up quiet abit and seems to accelerate abit smoother.

BUT.... the bad news is that the kit provided by mace . is made for the 3.6 alloytec which mean there are 2 flaws with it... number one is that theres 1 extra pulley that will not be used for anything and number two the belt that is provided is ####loads long so

if you guys get a harmoning balancer 20% on ur sidi, you will highly likely need a short belt that is shorter than the stock one

HERES IS THE PART NUMBER: 6PK2080.

Steve you should probably look into repackaging the kit

but all in all im happy with it and lets hope that nothing goes wrong

Correct me if i read it wrong but I dont think mace should have to change anything you ordered something thet was not made for your car. therefore that is not maces problem. thats like ordering ls1 headers for a v6 an then complaining they dont fit. o.O

    Hey Arthur,

    Thanks for the constructive feedback

Admittedly powerbond don't have a kit for the 3.0L SIDI, however if you can email us detailed pic of the extra pulley it would be perfect. This way we can let PB know of the changes to be able to develop a "true" underdrive kit for the 3.0L SIDI

Given your help you'll be looked after with other gear in time

All in all I'm glad to hear your happy with the mod

    Cheers,

This new kit "should" also be the same as the new/current 3.6L SIDIs so it's important we get this right moving ahead

Mechanics don't have an easy job, so it could be something that I could turn a blind eye to, unless they're plain lying that's different...

The way these work to improve power output at the rears is by not spinning the auxiliary components (such as power steering, water pump etc) as hard. The lighter crank pulley also reduces the parasitic losses associated with accelerating a mass, much like swinging a bucket full of water. The less water in the bucket, the easier it is to swing

hi steve what are the major gains? i heard that the alternator needs something becasue it doesnt charge the battery properly? and if the pully is smaller wouldnt that make the idle higher?

The main gains is that the engine is noticeably more responsive. As for the other issues you've mentioned, they don't seem to be a problem with these engines.

I'm curious to on how this wouldn't affect the function of the power steering & alternator not charging completely/fully/as much, etc?

If someone could clear it up.. that would be good.... as i've been interested in replacing my squeaky annoying pulleys and harm. balancer.

    1. Yes power steering gets heavier but is tolerable. Larger rim size will lighten it

    2. Car has smoother acceleration and revs with less effort.

    3. Just buy the kit and youl be happy!

    4. I know because ive had the powerbond kit on for almost a year, zero problems

    5. You dont have to buy the kit...
