hi mace (steve i think lol)
im looking to get more up and go from my vt v6. the only mod it has at the moment is a 2.5 cat back but i will be putting a wide mouth cai.. what do you suggest i could do? get everything in your list on page 1? also with the bigger air flow meter would i need a bigger snorkel or will the standard one fit? also with the spacers, do larger bolts come with the parts to compensate for the spacers? sorry about all the questions but im interested in buying 1 of each item (OR THE BIGGEST IF THERE ARE MORE THAN 1 OPTION). if you could answer those q's and give me a price on all those parts with postage to harden nsw 2587, that would be great. thanks mate

Hey mace, I have a VS commodore with extractors, CAI, and a catback. I am thinking about getting a 12mm plenum spacer, 12mm manifold insulator and also 1.9:1 roller rockers OR a MEMCAL. I am wondering what your opinion is, roller rockers or MEMCAL for just a daily, what kind of power gains i would be looking at and whether it would affect my fuel consumption.
Cheers
Lindsay
Hey Lindsay,
Thanks for your inquiry.
If you had to chose between the 1.9's or the memcal it comes down to the following points
Bang for but the rockers are the best upgrade to do as a bolt on mod offering the greatest power gain. In this case around 10-13rwkw. Fuel economy isn't overly effected
Memcal helps improve fuel economy and driveability with power gains of around 3-5rwkw. In saying this though would recommend getting the memcal if it was going to be your last mod to get the most value out of it.
If you have any more questions please don't hesitate to ask
Cheers,

Hi Mace, I have a 93 VR V6 and was wondering what mods would you suggest to get the old girl moving along a bit quicker? I have already put in a stainless air intake with a pod filter on it. Also has a RPS rear muffler with no cat.
Hi Jacko78
" I have a 93 VR V6 and was wondering what mods would you suggest to get the old girl moving along a bit quicker? I have already put in a stainless air intake with a pod filter on it. Also has a RPS rear muffler with no cat. "
I would ditch the RPS canon and the back and run a single high flow muffler and simple straight through pipe where the rear muffler is or maybe a resonator if you think it's to loud.
How have you done intake? I would highly recommend enclosing the pod filter so that it gets cold air rather then hot air from under the bonnet. We can supply our cold air intakes less the pod filter to suit.
We have a number of items available for the Buick engines including 1.9 high ratio rockers, crow cam kits and 70mm throttle bodies. We can also supply memcal (tunes) to suit.
Please don't hesitate to ask if you have any more questions.

I had planned to ditch the RPS and put in a flowmaster? If you have a look at the pic I have on my profile in regards to the intake. Would you have a cold air box to suit?
How much for the crow cam kit and what should I expect from that being installed?
Thanks heaps for your help.
Hi Jacko78
"I had planned to ditch the RPS and put in a flowmaster? If you have a look at the pic I have on my profile in regards to the intake"
Unfortunately I can't see the pic of the intake on your profile. I'm not sure about the Flowmaster. Everybody that I've spoken to has recommended against it and yet the yanks seem to make the V6 sound fairly decent with a Flowmaster. I guess there is only one way to find out

What type of free flow exhaust would you suggest?
Hi Jacko78,
" What type of free flow exhaust would you suggest? "
Depending on your goals, either a simple single 2.25" or single 2.5" system with straight through free flow muffler and resonator at the back. If low to mid range rpm is the goal then the 2.25" system is probably better but if your more after mid to high range that go the single 2.5" system will work better. Fitting headers will also improve mid to high rpm flow/power for the loss of a little low rpm torque. 3" systems are complete overkill on an n/a V6 unless you have done lots of work like heads and big cam and/or stroker kits and then I would probably suggest a twin system over a single.
Exhausts can be a bit of a compromise, with a street driven vehicle it always pays to stay on the small side as you'll like the results better unless your just after bragging rights of peak power numbers.
I have a Rage 2.5" single system on mine, works reasonably well but does drone a little bit at certain RPM's
I guess it also comes down to the sound your after, find a car that you like the sound of (same engine etc) and see what system they have fitted.
Please don't hesitate to ask if you have any more questions.

Hey greasemonkey24,
Thanks for your inquiry.
In regards to your questions/statements.
"i have vt v6 99 stage 2 crow cam with memcal, wildcat extractors, waiting on visa card to purchase products from u guys (cnt wait)"
No problems
"after advice im looking at your plennum spacers do u reccomend 12mm or 25mm also larger throttle body (69mm) can u pm me price for items and reccomendation"
No probs I'll shoot you a PM shortly
"also any added parts i will need from larger throttle body to air box eg will i need larger piping ect also will i need a new memcal chip after fitting spacers and larger throttle body as i have a pre tuned that came with crow cam???"
The throttle bodies we supply are direct bolt on items so that's not a problem, as shown in the link below. We can supply you with a touched up memcal to suit the larger throttle body and the crow cam.

hey guys,
Just thought I'd post this here.
I know it's not your product, but, I figured it would be a good place to put it.
Maybe you guys could offer something similar? It looks pretty cool.

I was not supplied with any because I got them of a friend. Am I able to get then separately from anywhere?

Hi mace,
I've just done An engine rebuild on a series 1 vn. It has double row timing chain, stage 2 crow cam and 2.5inch exhaust from cat back. I've only just fitted the cam and still have the engine apart. My question are. Having a stage 2 crowd cam what roller rockers do you suggest I run as mine are still stock. I have not yet upgrade the memcal, do you have one suitable. Do I need to upgrade my heads and or valve springs as well. Also you have all these manifold spacers for the ecotech motors, is there anything similar for the buicks to give them a bit more torque or what would you suggest. Thanks Matt

Hi Matty,
" I've just done An engine rebuild on a series 1 vn. It has double row timing chain, stage 2 crow cam and 2.5inch exhaust from cat back. I've only just fitted the cam and still have the engine apart. My question are. Having a stage 2 crowd cam what roller rockers do you suggest I run as mine are still stock."
The Crow stage 2 cam only runs .440 lift (with the stock rocker), we can supply LS1 type high ratio rocker to suit the VN engine.
With the stage 2 cam you can run a 1.85:1 ratio rocker with the standard heads. We would need to confirm the cam spec's to be 100% certain.
"I have not yet upgrade the memcal, do you have one suitable. "
Unfortunately we don't have any tunes to suit the standard crow stage 1-3 cams, best to contact Crow directly.
"Do I need to upgrade my heads and or valve springs as well. "
Although the cam is designed to work with the stock springs, being a s1 VN they are starting to get old, with many km's on them they have probably lost a fair bit of pressure. If you can get them checked to see what the pressures are it would be good, otherwise a standard type replacement spring would be a good idea.
"Also you have all these manifold spacers for the ecotech motors, is there anything similar for the buicks to give them a bit more torque or what would you suggest. "
Unfortunately we don't have any such products for the Buick engines. I would recommend a Cold air intake and 82 degree thermostat.
Please don't hesitate to ask if you have any more questions.
