I've got a few questions regarding an airbox for a VN. My VN is running group a twin throttles and making around 310rwkw at the moment with a Hsv style over the radiator intake and Lower airbox also with a 3" hose from the front bar through the guard into the airbox via a hole in the bottom. I'm running a K&N panel filter and the group A top airbox section.

What I was thinking was running one of your airboxes modified to feed from the hsv style intake and 3" pipe through the guard of course, and also running a rather large pod filter.

So what I was wondering was two things. Firstly do you think the HSV style intake could be adapted easily enough? And secondly, could a 7" long pod filter with a 6.5" diameter base and 5" outlet be made to fit? And lastly, considering the angle of the group a intake Y piece, would the V6 item suit better?

“So what I was wondering was two things. Firstly do you think the HSV style intake could be adapted easily enough?”
It could, however I don’t think it would be worth while.

“And secondly, could a 7" long pod filter with a 6.5" diameter base and 5" outlet be made to fit? And lastly, considering the angle of the group a intake Y piece, would the V6 item suit better?”
It would be tight but I don’t think it would be a problem fitted something similar in the past except it was 9” long

On another note we may have a plenum spacer to suit the factory GPA manifolds over the coming months, to assist with improving air distribution between cylinders

If you have any more questions please don’t hesitate to ask.

    Hey steve,

I purchased a CAI & 70MM TB off you for my VR V8 and all I can say is F*#N AMAZING! Didnt take me long at all to put everything on and as soon as I took it for a test I could feel the throttle response to be alot better and when I put the foot down the car has a real old school grunt to it ! Sounds awesome. I couldnt be more happier money well spent I have to say. Anyone looking to get more out of their V8 without doing heads & cam package. I HIGHLY recommend this mod. Thanks again Steve. I will definitely be doing more business with MACE ! Great Customer Service and Great quality Products.

My daughter has a 355 stroker in her VT Clubby. It is having idling issues, and was wondering if a 70mm throttle body may help.
It is running a mild cam, and stock heads, HSV extractors, and Auspac twin 2.5" exhaust.
It has heaps of grunt, but just doesnt idle as smooth as it could. Its not the cam. Seems to need more air at idle.
Do you do a throttle body for the VT Holden motor, and how much? Thanks, Ian.

Your problem is elsewhere, there is no way a bigger throttle will affect idle. Is the idle air control valve working? A bigger throttle may make a bit more power up top but saying it will fix the idle is like adjusting idle stop screw out on the throttle you have.

To be clear for us to suggest that a larger throttle body would solve idling issues would be very premature, if anything the seal on our throttle bodies can be better then from factory so it would likely make the problem worse not better , hence my answer to the question

Sure cracking open or drilling a hole in the butterfly are effectively zero cost solutions, it may also be masking the underlying problem/trait of the setup, which isn't a good idea

We normally don't offer changeovers on these throttle bodies, however given the supply issues we're having we can do them at that price changeover.

If you have any other questions please don't hesitate to ask.

Have up to $1000 to play with at the moment. i know it aint much, but with a new bub on the way funds for my toy are
    few and far between lol.

oops, forgot to say that the car is completely stock, and is a series 2 Vx ss. only thing done is NGK platinum plugs and MSD leads

To be honest, I would recommend Cold air intake, Exhaust and tune.

We can supply with an OTR, as shown below, and an mail order mafless tune (changeover) for $975 delivered

Alloy OTR Cold Air Intake To Suit Holden VT - VZ V8 - Mace Engineering Group

Other options to consider would be our 1.9 high ratio rockers (up from 1.7) and a 25% under driven harmonic balancer which the V8's respond to very well. Please see

HIGH RATIO ROLLER ROCKERS TO SUIT VT-VZ LS1-LS2 V8'S - Mace Engineering Group

VT II - VE GEN IV BALANCERS - Mace Engineering Group

Please don't hesitate to ask if you have any more questions.

    thanks bart
i think i will go the otr package. sounds pretty good to me. what likely power increase should i get from that? i have heard mixed responses. some people paying 10-20rwkw, others saying anywhere from 30-50rwkw. its my first v8 so a lot of this stuff is new to me.

do you also sell diff gears, i was looking at buying clubby diff gears. i probably sound like a real dumb ass right now, lol but like i said this is my first v8. and i have never really modded a car to much before.

    cheers

    Hi David,

"i think i will go the otr package. sounds pretty good to me. what likely power increase should i get from that? i have heard mixed responses. some people paying 10-20rwkw, others saying anywhere from 30-50rwkw. its my first v8 so a lot of this stuff is new to me. "
10-20rwkw would be a good figure to work with, some people claim huge numbers but generally there would be other mods that would contribute to that figure. OTR's are also more efficient on the open road when heat soak isn't a problem like when your stuck in traffic in the middle of town.

"do you also sell diff gears, i was looking at buying clubby diff gears. i probably sound like a real dumb ass right now, lol but like i said this is my first v8. and i have never really modded a car to much before. "
Unfortunately we don't. You can try Holmart for brand new gears or contact your local diff shop who may be able to supply 2nd hand gear sets and install for you.

Please don't hesitate to ask if you have any more questions.
