There is a user guide in with my books etc, that describes it as a Holden Sound System Upgrade. A little research on the web found it for sale on ebay for $795, and they call it a Blaupunkt GTA450 Amp:
BRAND NEW GENUINE BLAUPUNKT SOUND SYSTEM UPGRADE
I discovered that hidden in my boot was a 4 channel amplifier that was part of a 'sound system upgrade' that (apparently) comes standard in a Calais!!!
This is great, because I can now run RCA connectors straight from my head unit to the amp (rather than inputting the speaker wires as was the...
I have changed the head-unit, but everything else is standard - I have noticed that when I disconnect the FL speaker wires at the head-unit end of the run, I hear a crackling noise on the speaker...
I am trying to figure out how the cabling works for these speakers.
On the front left side under...
I've got some really wierd behaviour happening here...
My front left speaker occasionally drops in and out. When its in, it sounds totally fine - but when its out the volume goes real quiet in both the door and tweeter speakers. It does appear to be related to shaking, as going over bumps...
I've ordered a CAT10 system from JB-HIFI which cost me $266. I'm still waiting (3 weeks now) to get it - they are ***** useless at JB - can't even order in stuff in a timely fashion. I wouldn't recommend giving them business - especially since they just order it in anyway. Maybe contact...
Thanks klaw - I went to JB HIFI today they said it would take about 1-2 weeks to get a CAT10 in - and I had to pay $266 upfront:eek:
How easy is it to get access to behind the stereo from the passenger footwell? - Is there any info on the process for a VZ?
To install the CAT10 into a commodore VZ, the installation instructions state:
"Ground the vehicles Black/Yellow trace and connect CAT10 Brown to vehicle Brown."
Does anyone know which slots these are on the connector at the back of the stereo cavity?

Thanks for the quick response Phreddy - I found this (limited) info on Clarion's UK site:
Clarion UK | OEM steering wheel remote control
Which, if you follow the 'Connector Chart' link, shows the Holden connector as "Type A". It lists a bunch of compatible cars (unfortunately Commodores are...
I mentioned this on another post - but it is just as valid here:
Some Clarion head units suggest they come with:
"OEM steering wheel remote"
I wonder if that means the signal from the steering wheel can connect directly to the stereo?
Can anyone confirm if this is the case? (ie. Holden...

Can anyone confirm if this is the case? (ie. Holden steering wheel controls are OEM? - W.T.F. is OEM?)
Thanks for the info klaw - I'll use your idea for accessing the steering controls for use with a CAT device.
I think the 'sticky' on VK-VZ wiring colours was confusing me.
The wiring colours guide mentions:
Antenna up - White (VR onwards)
Antenna down - Blue (VR onwards)
But, from the...
Is there a wiring harness available for the VZ connectors to convert to a new head unit?
I notice from the "Comprehensive guide on how to install an aftermarket stereo in a VZ SV6 Commodore" guide that there are three connectors - top, middle and bottom.
It appears that he has bought a...
