Made some progress today and tidied up shed into panels that are done and panels that need fixing. The fixing pile is fairly large still haha.

Also finished replacing cowl panel, I' not too good with a welder and I bent the cowl with heat a bit so I'll have to build that up with bog but apart from that the new cowl panel is done and ready to fill and sand.

Painted up the engine bay black, um... cleaned out the inside of the ute and started to rip apart the headlining and dash as I will replace most of that. I'll get some pictures up once my cam battery finishes recharging and I go and take some of what things I have done.

That was a pretty heavy couple of days... oh and I almost forgot.... haha . . .

When I put the cowl panel in I forgot the mounting bracket for the drivers side wiper which welds in on the underside of the cowl panel... But I fixed it up, I guess your meant to make mistakes and learn from them so when I do my next project I will know to weld that bracket on the cowl panel beforehand haha.

    Cheers

So there you have it, from now on I'll resize my pics like that, big enough but not too small. That's what I got up to for the past couple of days.. Been keeping me busy busy! Hopefully all my parts rock up this week so I should have them all welded in by the end of the week and will have some more pics for ya's! Peace!

HAHA yea my shed is like 4 poles with tin around it and some old seconds carpet... lol. Ive got the motor on an engine stand now so I can take a look at it, Aparently it has no oil pickup and the sump gasket is mankey looking so will replace that.

    Nice mate,

Looks like you're getting stuck into all the work, good stuff.

How'd you go about removing the grille from the cowl panel??? Did you have to unscrew the wiper arm first? I've tried getting mine off and seems impossible unless you take the wiper arm off.........which I didn't particularly want to do but meh.

Your passenger floor pan looks similar to what mine did. I'm just gonna try and get mine fixed, just like go over it with the welder and brass up all the little holes and stuff I would assume.

What model is the motor out of btw? Its def not a WB motor (red) and from memory, dosn't look like a HZ one either.....(oil pump looks kinda different to the ones on mine so assuming its not a hz) Are you sure it will be legal? As the red motor would be older than the WBs blue motor? I'm not sure myself, just think I should let you know just in case.

Devastating about all the bog in your guards tho lol.........

Good luck with it mate, look forward to more updates.

To get my grill out of cowl panel I unscrewed all it's screws, then cut the wiper arm off with an angle grinder lol. You can lift the whole wiper arm off of the little serated lobe it sits on, It just may need a bit of wd40 or something cause it uses pressure to hold on there...

I got new floor pans from rarespares to put in.. Rust will never come back and they were only 70 bucks ea which is not too bad..

The red 308 is out of a HQ I'm pretty sure, The original in the wb was a blue motor then it had a red 202 put in it. I don't care if it's legal or not really, There are alot of old cars running around with illegal V8's in them it's just like that.

Also the heads are Dave Bennett by Yella Terra and It has brand new (virtually) yella terra roller rockers and springs etc...
From what I was told but I'm still looking everything is brand new in it and worth a fair bit of money except the block, It's only done 14,000 km's since new stuff was put in it..

Nice, looks like you got a score then.

So the passenger side wiper arm just lifts off does it? No need to undo the wiper assembly screws or anything?

Gotta love WD40. Might give it a go. I should see if it says anything in the workshop manual I have........funny, I never thought of having a look at that until this minute lol.

Well I don't really know about the pass side wiper arm I just cut it off because I didn't need it, But the driver side one just popped off... you just got to put a screwdriver on this little clip looking thing on the bottom side of end of the wiper arm where it meets the cowl.

Nice man, I like your work with the floor pan. Was it hard?

How'd you go cutting the old one out? Did you have to disconnet any fuel lines or anything?

Thanks Joe, It is easy considering I'm not welder but I learnt from my mistake on the cowl panel and will do spot welds and let them cool instead of just constant spot welding that way My floor pan won't warp lol.

To cut the old one out I layed my new pan in there traced around it with a felt pen (anything that leaves a mark would be ok) Then I just started cutting makiing sure not to let the disc go too far through as to not hit Brake lines, Fuel pipe, Wiring etc?

Then I must of stuffed up tracing the old one out because now I have a gap above the new floor pan so I will have to fill that in with some tin as it's too big to make a weld across. Oh well I'm learning from attempting different things, My next project should be easier by the time I finish this one.

What exactly is done to the engine? Seems very very odd to use Yella Terra dash 3 alloy heads and then put the stocky manifold on top...Those heads flow 450HP out of the box, a lot more than that manifold will ever be capable of.
