Hey guys i am 17 and just bought my dream car a 1984 Holden WB one tonner and was wondering what cheaps modifications i can do before 6 months time when i drop a 400 small block chev in it.
The motor is a CARBY 202l 6cyclinder with no real work except for exhaust and extractors.
If you have any ideas please list them i will be willing to read!
Also i was thinking of putting a little 300 holley on it, is that a good idea?
Carby would be the best thing as you wouldn't bother go for internals if the engines coming out soon, use your cash to start the mods for the V8 like brakes and start buying bit and pieces like the mounts and other things that add up. Or start the body work if it needs it., Got any pics?
all the usual stuff, carb (350 holey/webber), cam, mild hydraulic from crow is only 250, head, thermo instead of engine driven fan, all work well and fairly cheap.
rebuilt my entire engine for under a grand..
Ah dude, I'm so JEALOUS!!!!! Makes mine look even more of a pos than it already does lol.
7,500 is a lot more than I'd pay, but it's clearly worth it and obviously had a lot more than that spent on it so well done.
Also, you'd be under the new P plate laws, so a 400 chev or what not will be at least 4 years down the tracks? And anyway six months is nothing, I wouldn't bother doing anything more to the 202 in that time, as someone else said, save for the other stuff and do things like brakes etc.
I wouldn't do much to it myself... But there is a whole range of posibilities already stated by people in the thread... Give her a good service.. new carby.. tune up... maybe new leads... Wouldn't go as far as heads or internals though.. Although you can make them 202's hammer with the right mods.
If your just going to stick a better motor in it in the near future I wouldn't touch internals. Ultimately it's up to you though.
