    Default 2000 Pontiac Firebird V6

Figured I'd introduce myself, I'm in the US, visiting the boards for some quality V6 information and maybe some parts scavenging lol! I've seen some really impressive work on V6's over here both from COME/MACE/FIT and a few others. Also blown away by the Formula Holdens!

Car is currently down for upgrades/rebuild as it has almost 200,000KM on the clock! Started off as just an intake gasket replacement and cam install, but that was out the window when I pulled the valve covers to find a bad problem with oil sludge.

Hopefully it will last me another 200K!

Ran 15.86 @ 86.10mph in the 1/4 bone stock at high altitude.
Before the rebuild the car had:
    Stock 3.42 gears w/ posi
    Aluminum driveshaft
    Whisper lid (intake housing)
Force Fed Fabs stainless longtube headers
Texas Speed & Performance Rumbler catback
32mm front and 19mm rear swaybars

    Waiting to install:
    Intense Racing S1X NA Cam
60*Inclusive hand ported heads and intake
Yella Terra 1.7 platinum roller rockers
TCI Super Street Fighter 3800 stall
    other supporting mods and HPTuners

Thanks, things are finally starting to come together after 6 months of just sitting in the driveway without an engine

I remember when I was in junior high (1996 or so) I found out about HSV through a race sim that had a mod for the Aussie V8 supercar challenge. I asked my Dad why we didn't have cool cars like that over here

Here's the extent of everything so far. Waiting on parts to get in and we'll get cracking on assembly!

Full engine bay shot, note that we really don't have a need for strut tower braces

Yeah I found that weird... I knew they were a variant of the Ecotec, but its practically the same thing. Wouldve thought theyd make it special if it was getting put in a Firebird.

Well GM toyed with using the Supercharged version, but they never put it into production, would have competed too much in sales with the V8. Woulda been nice to have a car in the 12's with a pully, tune and exhaust!

Actually, from what alot of us are seeing, the Holden plenum/manifold is better because of the intake runners. Our intake design isn't the best, and can run into issues for those with nitrous setups. I know a few that have gone to maximum effort setups with turbochargers and have put the Holden intake on their cars.

Best example is this one that ran 8s!

I'm just a garage tinkerer, that 8 second car is from Tim King at Intense Racing.

I aspire to have a car with some of that potential, but his is just insane!

Ecoted are special . Your intakes to have better deisgns though, and variants, which is meant to be the reason why your ecotecs put out more power at the engine ?

L67 was used in alot of FWD cars, but not in the F-body. It would have competed with the V8 sales too much over here.

There is one guy who has converted a Camaro with an L67, he's trying to get all the loose ends tied up. He didn't have the Holden M90 which has a different angled inlet on the supercharger. The US M90's are a straight inlet, which would have had the throttle body in the firewall!

I was just thinking there wouldn't be much clearance!

Wow that would be a pain to do simple things such as change spark plugs....

Still trying to find time to tune, working full time plus school lol!

Had to install 130# valvesprings as the 105# ones didn't cut it and I feared I'd be getting valve float.
130's on the left, 105's on the right.
