My new 2011 camaro

Hey guys and gals. Been living in southern california for 3 weeks now and loving it. Love it even more now ... Took delivery of me dream car this week ...a brand new 2011 2SS camaro with RS package in inferno orange with orange trim and trim accent package, manual, sunroof, stripe kit ... And some cool genuine GM Camaro options including exhaust upgrade (louder but not droning) sub woofer enclosure (2 x 10's in a powered molded composite enclosure that bolts in behind the back seat in the boot and plugs into the loom) polished and chrome 20" rims, color coded engine cover. The dealer also fitted lowered Eibach springs .. And it's settled down nicely about another 1/2 and inch since these photos were taken. Just a pity I can't bring it on a cruise wth you guys!!

Thanks guys ... It is very different to drive than the VE ... Slower for one thing (missing that 310rwkw ... but I'm going to drop a whipple on it and make it whine and sing. But it feels just like sitting in an HK monaro or first gen camaro. You sit really low ... Side windows are nearly at shoulder height ... You can't see the bonnet ... And visibility out the back is zero. Handles better than the VE ... And stops better with the big brembos. It is a real American muscle car in every way. Very retro ... For instance it is the top of the range ... No climate control ... Just hotter and cooler like a bare bones SS. When you turn the radio dial, the digital display turns into an old style analogue tuner with the needle sliding left and right.

Nice to hear you miss the car ...I sure don't miss Clipsal or Schneider one little bit ... With their cost cutting and conflicting KPIs and treating everyone like a number. So good working for a dynamic privately owned company that encourages ideas and entrepreneurship instead forcing everyone to conform to their processes. I've heard Im not the only one who's gone lately ... Head of sales, commercial manager, CIS national manager.

*shameless self plug* i will be converting these to RHD from december, if the testing process goes through ok, looking at adding them to my schedule early next year along with mustang and corvette mid to late next year.

$44k on road wth all the options I've listed ... amazing huh! In standard set up it's 426hp (flywheel, not rehp) however I have contacts through work with Dustin Whipple ... he's just given me an awesome price on a SC and mods that'll give me 560rwhp!!

With the dollar as strong as it is now, less than $47k. But Holden want to protect HSV sales so it would have to sell for $80k - $90k which is just stupid. If it came out here for $50k ish, I'd buy one no questions asked!

actually, 44k in the states means itll be around 55k in aus before compliance. cos' of GST/shipping/customs clearance etc. compliance will be around 40K to start with then drop down after a few years. holden wont (i hope) bring these in mid-volume cos' the GM plant simply cant keep up with demand in the states for the bodies.

as far as i know, GM make the floor and most of the rolling parts, the car then gets shipped to the fischer plant in canada for a lot of the RHD panels and parts, then it gets shipped to OZ for final completion. but the problem is that too many people in the US want it and at the moment GM are struggling to fulfil their pre-order list. holden have said "if its not here by... (cant remember the month) we dont want it because the market would have gone cold and we cant guarantee sales" so if GM cant make a few more bodies, we are not gonna get them at all. (other than importing low volume on the RAW scheme)

anyways, off topic. that is one verrrry nice ride OP, i am hell jealous.

edit* oh i forgot, im pretty sure camaro will be subject to the luxury car tax.

Actually if you check out the G8 forums there's a lot of yanks that do go down the Holden Lion badge route for their G8s. The ones that understand that apart from the engine, the car IS a Holden and IS 100% Australian.

I just looked them up, had no clue that Pontiac made these.
Here's some interesting information for you all.
Apparently the G8 was the very last car they released before they went under.
Sounds like a plea for help to me.. shame though.
