so the other week i sold whats left of my old vs wagon and 2day I bought a '86 volvo 740 sedan 4 $300
Specs that i know

power mirrors
power windows
central locking
cruise control
stock alloy wheels
grandpa spec rear shade
its completly stock as a rock
even sits higher than our 4x4 haha
Only things that arent stock is the 2 driving lights on the bumper
4cylinder auto with power steering
and i think it has a wopping 85kw at the rears its a bit different than my vl v8 but the ride is softer.
Future plans:
slam it
engine swap
respray
tint
mags
airbags/ or hydrolics (depends how much money i feel like wasting)

I will get some pics once its daytime. 2 dark right now haha

mate, cops use volvos as persuit cars in england, AND they used to do pretty well at buthurst back in the days when bathurts was still a 'real' race. so i wouldnt sneeze at one. get a BIG turbo on there and youll be amazed. they already handle like a dream

these are nice cars man, I had a 740GL special edition as my first car. It was soo smooth, had power windows (89 model!), even sports mode the most comfortable car ever. It copped a LOT of abuse (including getting smashed intto a gutter lol) and (after a diff replacement haha) still went perfect. Great car, great on fuel.

Shame about the colour though haha.

It will be fun for about 2 weeks until you need to start spending to keep it going. vovo parts are not cheap.

it came with AA xxx A slim plates. Just made the numbers in the middle A's aswell cause there are A's all over the front haha. Btw the aaa on the driving light covers are not photoshopped

yep it has 2 fuel pumps and 1 shat itself thats y it not starting but im getting a universal pump and gonna make it fit haha

I'll be keeping a close eye on this one, if you keep it that is. I was looking recently on carsguide/sales can't remember, and there was a absolutely mint 740, 90 model from memory. I was thinking about how much i would like it, and how good of a base it was.

Sadly funds and space soon put a stop to my dreaming...

Any thoughts yet on the engine transplant?

Yeah this is mint. Not a thing missing or broken minus fuel pump haha. Yeah the 86modle i have is a little harder to find than the 90 models in the 740 gle fully optioned minus sunroof. Only bad thing is it lived out on a dirt road for 20 years of its life so the under carrage needs a good clean. I had the funds problem to until i stumbled accross this at a crash shop where my sisters car was sitting after it got written off. He got it for nothin but spent 300 on it so only wanted his money back on it. Thats y i got it for a steal haha

update.... external fuel pump and filter need 2 be replaced and 2 injectors are strewed so $300 later i have a new pump and filter and another $100 i have 4 brand new 4 spot fuel injectors on the way (first time ive ever bought off of ebay) hopefully back on the road next week then i can take it 2 bowls on wednesday night (been playing night owls 4 over 14 years) im gonna have the coolest car at bowls haha so far its already costed me more 2 get it on the road than it has 2 buy the bloody thing... on the plus side tho........ the suspention set up is only 1 year old but another minus is its got a massive zorst leak. I wonder how a 2 1/2 in sports exhaust would sound on it haha

i would never sell a holden 2 keep a volvo......... maybe if it was that volvo in the vid but sertanatly not the volvo i have haha
anywho.... new fuel pump and filter are in and sitting in the car at the mechanics waiting 2 get installed after the tank has been flushed. Word of advice if it doesnt start straight away after been sitting there 4 a while check the fuel. Mine turned out 2 have a half a tank of petrol mixed with about 2ltrs of water :S
and new injectors are on thier way from USA.... so stocked im actual almost exited about my volvo getting fixed haha

still trying 2 find an old bowls hat tho and not having much luck

HAHAHA, you remind me of some of my old customers when I used to work at a bowls clubs, some of them had those hats and bags AND drove old Volvos! They used to make me laugh so much, they would pull out of the car-park so slow you swear they were trying to idle home.
